Had the same question ... called up Maxis and confirmed that if you change phone, you have to step into Maxis Center to get a new e-SIM ... silly implementation since the iPhone have the ability to transfer e-sim from one iPhone to another iPhone ....
If you go to Maxis Center to get your e-sim... it is free. But if you go to Maxis VAR ... then it's chargeable.
so now ... have to wait for phone to arrive through delivery from Maxis... then end up still have to step into Maxis to get the e-Sim

Oh man, I just called Maxis and yes, have to walk in and change the e-SIM. What a bummer! Why can’t they just let us use the feature in iOS 16!
