Car is 2007 Persona.

Left drive shaft is pretty new, used only 2 years with less 30,000km mileage. This week I noticed the outer rubber boot has failed. It looked recent, which I'm certain no longer than 2 weeks because I replaced the brakes 2 weeks ago.



Should I replace the whole thing or just have it fixed by replacing the rubber boot? Regrease and new rubber boot probably RM80 include labor. New part is RM170 not including labor.

Now on the right drive shaft, it looked pretty okay. Inner rubber boot shows some crack, with grease seeping on the edge. Nothing catastrophic. This is the original part from 2007.



Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Left driveshaft is ori? If ori just replace the rubber boot. I will last very very long. Make sure no sound whatsoever when full turning.

Local aftermarket Gaido brand. RM190 for a piece. So far no noise. Sadly warranty only cover for 1 year.

Replace the left side and repair the factory original right side, how does that sound? But I'm curious about the wear and tear inside after 15 years and 200,000km.

I do not know the reliability of Gaido brand, but at least the gaido belting is good.
There is no correct advise tho..
If got money to spend, buy new for both.
If no money, repair both.

I actually ordered for new replacement part on shopee. But order got cancelled because seller found some issues with the product. Offered for BKA Japan brand instead, which totally not made in japan nor does the company based in japan based on quick googling.

A bit frustrated now I can't get this mess fixed by the weekend. I'm thinking maybe this is a sign that I should just go for repair route.

Car spare part shop should have common drive shaft like yours. The price wont be for different too.
