Recently rescued a male cat dumped by owner.
Upon testing at vet and spending over rm 500, found out the cat is FIP positive (which explains being dumped by the owner)
So I constructed an outdoor cage at a remote field with sand and leave the cage unlocked but wrapped with trash bag to protect from elements.
I don't want the cat near my home because the neighbourhood is hostile and I don't want my own cat to be infected by FIP.
This is the cat's new outdoor home and these few weeks it was ok, sleeping in it and I feed it daily.
Recently it has lost the ability to use one of it's hind legs, and I read it's one of the progressive signs of dry FIP.
I don't intend to spend over 5k for experimental FIP jabs because it costs too much and honestly I feel no connection to this cat compared to my own.
My final solution is to euthanise it ( it still cost me money, rm 250++ according to vet) when the illness progressed to a point the cat won't eat anymore.
Right now it still has good appetite but very bad temper, growling, hissing and will strike even at me when I've been feeding it for weeks.
Recently I've fully diversified the cat to broth only food because i don't think it's drinking the water I left for it and it's still pretty much thin and dehydrated even though I feed it daily.
Now before I resort to euthanising the poor cat, I thought of supplementing it with l-Arginine.
I bought 21st century L-arginine 500mg plus supplement capsules and mixed it with the broth. Easily taken by the cat, and the 500mg dose is about the right dose for cats this size/weight.
I hope it will relax the veins and smoothen any potential clots that is hampering the cat's hind legs.
Other than that, there's not much I can do for the FIP cat anymore (except for euthanasia)
Has there been any cat that recovered from FIP without experimental treatment ?

QUOTE There is an available vaccine for feline infectious peritonitis, but its effectiveness remains a controversial topic. https://www.royalcanin.com/my/cats/kitten/f...us-peritonitis/Even the effectiveness of feline coronavirus vaccine is controversial, but humans believe their coronavirus vaccine is effective.

There is just no way to properly vaccinate against any strain of coronaviruses. Most dumbfucks just don't understand the science behind why.

QUOTE(JohnL77 @ Aug 15 2022, 12:26 AM) Just saw this. That cat still alive? https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSRk1NfK7/Still alive. I know about the above treatment. It's not practical and too expensive. I have no bond with this cat so not willing to spend the money. I found a cheaper alternative. https://www.researchsquare.com/article/rs-384856/v1.pdfApparently Lianhua Qingwen, the covid19 antiviral for humans, works just as well. The catch is getting the cat to take it. I failed in getting the cat to eat food mixed with the capsule contents (too smelly herb) and also failed to pill it, (too big a capsule) and I got bitten in the process. Therefore, back to square one. Will euthanise the cat soon if the QOL is poor. Those who're bonded with their cat and have experience pilling their cat may consider LHQW a try.
