Hi sifus, may I know if tyres of different size can be mixed for usage?

For example, a myvi that is currently using four assurance triplemax tyres size 185-55-15 (stock tyre). Two of the tyres require replacement. Can replace with two assurance triplemax 2 size 195-55-15?

Would there be any negative side effects, especially on safety?

It a slightly wider tyre with same profile and size vs current one so I doubt it's going to make a big difference, u need install both at either front or rear I think it should be still acceptable. Just dont install at one side la

I might be wrong tho

As long they are in pair in front or in rear of the car, no issue. Why would you want to use wider that original?

Negative:
Wider tire more susceptible to aqua planning
Slower acceleration due to heavier tire
The diameter increased slightly thus need to put more power to rotate for front tire. More fuel.
Longer braking distance due to more tire inertia.

On the benefit side
None perhaps. smile.gif

Can. But 185 front, 195 rear.

Visual wise, rear wider & taller only.

Eventually, ur front can swap to 195-55-15 when they're due.

Ok, seems like this is not recommended.

I thought 195 would provide better grip, thus better safety. When the other two 185 tyres are due for replacement, then I could change them to 195... then all will be 195.

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking of... but unsure of the possible safety issue

It does provide better dry grip tho. However wet performance will be reduced as wider tyre tend to aquaplane more as compared to narrower tyre.

But I doubt u are going to feel any difference with 185 vs 195 unless u do drive fast a lot
