now that University of Malaya Specialist Centre (UMSC) has branched out as a private arm from University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), formerly known as University Hospital, can you still see specialist doctors at UMMC or all of them have already shifted to UMSC?

those days, it was known to be semi government, hence affordable. looks like it's not the same anymore.

Not really, I had the same specialist to check my eyes, vision field tests and all 3 places, UMMC, Sunway, ISEC MV, cheapest still ISEC, highest UM.

Even consult with UM for my unborn children also more expensive than Sunway Medical consult.

Yeap most of the specialists in umsc are also working in ummc. Only that if you choose to go private the waiting time is shorter, charged like private hospital and you will deal straight with the specialists.

Same goes for ukmsc. Also gov have similar scheme called fpp (full paying patient)

i think terbalik

UMMC = public
UMSC = private

but same docs. operationally, they use the same resources i.e. same operating theatre, same icu , same peripherals.

UMSC , the private one is set up to retain the docs from going to private hospital cos they earn much much more if they move to private hospitals.

UMMC is also a learning hospital, if u r a doc there, u hv to do alot of extra such as teaching and guiding aspiring docs, and marking some papers etc. also u r required to publish some articles also. so alot of docs would wanna leave. but with UMSC, they get the private hosp pay, but are still required to serve UMMC la. so give and take.

Went there a few years ago for a consultation and costed $350... even more than SJMC. Not sure about procedures but I doubt it will be cheaper.
