QUOTE(Neo|ofGeo @ Jan 1 2012, 01:05 AM) they need 9k people supporting it The Organizing of Anime Fiesta/Miku concert Malaysia is indeed suspicious.i thought it would be easy, but no bla bla bla they are trying to bringing in Miku Hatsune concert in Malaysia even if not March/April maybe in Fall/Winter many say its bullshyt or scam i don't see anything about price or anything yet or have to pre-order tickets god people nowdays No info about the organizers at all but suddenly want to host such huge event. Its still too early to tell if they're actually serious or not, but there is no way in hell I'm giving my support until they give us some solid information. Look at this info page on facebook: Founded : 2002 Description : Malaysia's largest Anime Manga Cosplay Games Convention organizers. If they're founded in 2002 and are the largest (so they claim) why haven't they hosted a single event since? |

QUOTE According to 5pb, Miku in Singapore, or "Miku Pa" as it's called, has been considered a flop, at least compared to the other concerts Miku has held. Unlike the 2 major concerts she's held in Japan (excluding her b-day concerts) and the Mikunopolis in Los Angeles this past July, Mikupa had the lowest record of attendees and reviews by the people who attended. With only 800 people attending (though the nico nico douga reported a near record number of viewers), (nearly 1200 people less than Mikunopolis and 600 less than Miku's second Japan concert) Miku Pa received plenty of bad reviews from the Malaysian attendees. Including one scathing remark by an anime news blog in Malaysia saying Miku's concert was one of the worst and most disappointing he's ever been to, describing it as "A concert that was more like watching a Panda eat Bamboo than a celebration of Music." According to 5pb, it's looking very unlikely a 2nd concert will be hosted in Singapore or any other city in Malaysia ever again. Source: 5pb news website I thoroughly enjoyed the concert despite the minor flaws. And I won't deny attendances was a bit low since behind was pretty spacious...There are a lot of sceptics and first-timers to such a thing who bought the normal tickets to see what the fuss is all about and leave after a few minutes.(Heck might as well let me rob you...guess people throw money around nowadays) And this is why we can't have nice things. Stop being fuzzy...and thanks to fussy b****es, we are unlikely to have another concert in the south-east region again. The concert in Singapore will be forever embedded in my heart should there be no more Miku concerts in the future. Last but not least, Well done SEA folks. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by Senjou: Jan 5 2012, 09:05 AM |

Personal opinion? It's caters for a niche market, and thus is really small outside of Japan. I am somewhat neutral on this. I do like vocaloid character designs. They are lovely and well thought of.
But I also can see why not many people would like Vocaloid. No matter what the technology, the voice still sounds like it comes out of an auto tune mix. It's not natural and lacks the human feel of it. Also I have a headache listening to Vocaloids due to the "synth" sounding of it. Honestly for me I'd rate Friday as being better than any of the Vocaloid song. I'd never like Supercell when they first released they songs using Vocaloid, but once they start using real life human, I learn to appreciate their songwriting. Granted, the songs are good. I'd hear ones that had been re-sung by a real person and they are really nice. QUOTE(amduser @ Jan 5 2012, 07:53 PM) those people dont know what is music, most of them are being blinded by taiwan music and k-pop as well as china music Music is and would always be a personal preferences. Whatever genre it is, there would be fans, and these are usually based on accessibility, tradition, peer preferences, etc. Sure, you can be a hipster and listen to a different kind of music than what everyone around you are listening but saying that it sucks and bad reeks of an immature child trying to defend a loosing battle. Vocaloid music will always be mostly J-Pop, since the voice bank works best for it (it lacks the diphthong for any other languages/genre). But for this region there are not many fans of J-Pop, since well, how many of us do speak Japanese and how often do you hear them being played on local airwaves?those music are boring as well, nothing new, unlike vocaloid music that is available in different genres For me Vocaloid is a good tool for aspiring music writer to get themselves known. But it's not a substitute for a real human being. |

I wouldn't say that it's still a niche market....since it's been getting quite a following outside of Japan with concerts being held in the U.S and SEA. Probably elsewhere in Europe as well if I am not mistaken. But I also can see why not many people would like Vocaloid. Sure, you like your music to be "natural" and have the "human feel", but it's impossible to state that not many people like Vocaloid because you can't tell for sure. It's very subjective. In fact, the Vocaloid phenomena has grown so much since it was introduced five years ago. If not many people like it, the vocaloid fad would have died out at one point or another. but saying that it sucks and bad reeks of an immature child trying to defend a loosing battle. Aren't you doing the same but more subtly? For me Vocaloid is a good tool for aspiring music writer to get themselves known. But it's not a substitute for a real human being. Honestly for me I'd rate Friday as being better than any of the Vocaloid song. Hahah oh wow....but each to their own I guess....like you said.. Music is and would always be a personal preferences whether "human" or "non-human" as you would like to call it. It could also probably be a substitute to a real human being in the distant future. Technology can be a very scary thing... Cheers. This post has been edited by Senjou: Jan 6 2012, 01:42 PM |
