Hi, I just passed my undang and looking to get my first bike. No riding experience whatsoever. I came across a 2013 sym t2 new for RM5000.
Wanna ask if it will be a good buy?
Looking to get a bike to learn and upgrade later down the road

If can, get a second and make it your learning bike. Kapchai not so heavy and spare parts are abundance in the market and also cheap easy maintenance. Don't be like me, buy bike then crash the week after. I had no prior experience and people keep telling me it's like riding a bicycle. But if you insist, go for the sym, just be careful of it's weight and since it's 250cc pickup would scare you abit.

Hi OP.
If you have a Modenas dealer that offers test rides around your area, do try it out and see if you can handle the weight first as the SYM T2 you're looking at is ridiculously heavy at 170+kg, just 10 kgs lighter than the Dominar in question. If you can handle the weight then it should be no issue.
Otherwise, I would point you to the Modenas Pulsar or Yamaha FZ first as they are much more manageable and spare parts are easy to find compared to the SYM.
Or you can also opt for the older clutch cubs like the Suzuki Shogun R or LC135ES.
You can also go for the Suzuki RGV or Modenas Dinamik if you can handle two stroke maintenance. Don't forget to add two stroke oil and make sure your 2T pump is not dead.

What's the purpose of this bike that you are going to purchase? if short distance, kapchai/small cc scooter. if long-distance, minimum 150cc.

Best to get started with the fz150. It's a great starter learner bike. Parts aplenty, and any shop can fix it.
A next jump up would be a used Dominar 400 if you plan to go with a Full B license. The dominar is top heavy and heavy bike for the engine size, matching 600cc bikes. If you get used to the weight of the dominar, the rest of the bigger bikes will be fine.
Mentioned it before, the z650 I took my test on is easier to ride than my dominar so the test was easy for me. I picked up a dominar when I got my L last year.
You will eventually get used to the weight of a bigger bike.
If you are planning to get into bigger bikes in the future, No point getting a kapchai (even the bigger 150 clutch ones) as the handling characteristics of a kapchai is different from a full frame bike.
