Want cheapest ? But scared buying fakes

So worry, just buy from reputable places.
But don't expect the same products to be as cheap as buying online.

For the peace of mind, just buy from places like aeon, ace hardware, giant, etc etc.

I never use cheap batteries... Especially those unknown brands
Most of the time these will leak and screw up your device

I only use Duracell, Energizer, Panasonic, every ready.

Either Panasonic or Energizer. Each also have normal alkaline and extra long alkaline I think. That day I read Panasonic stated as anti leak which is very important smile.gif

Buy at any place that offer sale when possible only for me. Cheaper with more quantity package. If not use all also, the storage duration is now 10 years for alkaline. I'd buy at place where people commonly buy batteries. Otherwise, old stock and you lose some life span perhaps. laugh.gif

The downsides of these OEM batteries are, they leak. And damage your equipment. You might never knwo when they will leak. Thats the scariest part.

The negative side of rechargeable battery:

The highest capacity cannot last as long as probably half normal battery life.

If you run out of charge, you need to charge them first and if you need it now ... forget it. Who'd buy additional rechargeable as backup? Probably not because rechargeable batteries lose charge/power at faster rate than normal batteries. Furthermore, you do not want to keep rechargeable batteries charged up because it will affect their usage lifetime.

But my experience they do sometimes corrode terminal before running out of power. Perhaps the best is to change it on fix time schedule regardless its state biggrin.gif

sure, i just use this for toys, so i dont care.
if you have equipment u care for, ensure the batts never go flat for too long, or remove/store batts separately when not used.
otherwise go rechargeables.

what capacity you running?

user posted image

Nowadays its quite comon to see 2500mAh rechargables NiMH and they do last quite long compare to the old gen which also tend to self discharge, meaning you charge full, 2 weeks its all drained.

Problem with rechargable is lower volt of slightly above 1.2 compare to close to 1.5 for Alkalines. Cheaper alkaline also dont last long compare to the more expensive ones.

Zinc carbon and zinc chloride single-use batteries are cheap, but low capacity.
Alkalines have good power capacity and are a good value choice for most devices, but unsuited to high-drain ones such as digital cameras.
Lithium single use batteries are more expensive, but unlike alkalines are able to deliver their full capacity even in high-drain devices.
NiCd rechargeables have modest capacity comparable to zinc carbons, but can be reused.
NiMH rechargeables have good power capacity comparable to alkaline and lithium, though they can self-discharge moderately quickly.
Li-Ion Rechargeables aren’t available in standard, off-the-shelf sizes for reasons of safety.

user posted image

Radio Shack, Duracell Coppertop, Energizer Titanium Energizer Max, Everady Gold, Energizer Lithium (E2)

You can see at different drain level, the battery behave differently, but cheaper ones tend to finish faster. I bought Philips Alkaline before and they are crap, just stick to well known brands. Now mostly on rechargable, got like 12 AA or so at home and a bunch of AAA as well.

Low drain like tv remote and clocks, I also use carbon zincs.
Flash for DSLR still on Alkalines, if I decided dust off or touch it.
Other stuffs mostly rechargables, torch lights/lanterns,remote control cars or toys that are not using Li pack, etc.

Dont buy cheapo mr diy type of battery.
Leaks and destroy the contacts.

My mom destroyed a good number of aircon remotes at home.

Cheapest i go is GP greencell bought from official store.
Those other sellers some are selling fakes.
