No. This is giant's issue. There was a huge giant... Actually two huge giants in Kuching. One in Tabuan and one in Batu Kawa. Both went busy and a local company called emart took over.

Now emart is making bank to the point there's a sushi joint within it and self check out kiosk.

Fucking giant didn't grow with the times

Lotus can still survive due to their pricing strategy. Affordable for b40-m40 target group

But Giant, most of their items are expensive.

It's Giant problem, still huge demand for shopping for essentials. Bad management from the top not just this one place. Tbh this place i used to go often as they open early but one time went few years ago it said they start open at 10am, like wtf hypermarket all open 8am. The tesco/lotus across the road open at 8am so they lose out on the early bird housewife & retiree shoppers. Last time i ever went there or any Giant.

This outlet was due to the access issue. The moment the access is an issue, irregardless what brand of supermarket or hypermarket, they are waiting time to shut down.

I think market trends move away to favour smaller shops like Speed99 (great value), Hero, KK Mart, local "kedai ubat", etc
I guess people will to there with big purchases once a while but for most daily needs, people prefer to somewhere convenient nearby.

Hypermarket days are long gone. It has been taken over by 99 Speedmart on the lower end of the pricing and Jaya Grocer/Village Grocer/etc on the more premium items. People don't spend that much time on a huge shop anymore, simple as that. These companies like Lotus/Giant/Aeon Big never move on with times and latest business trend, they are just like dinosaur waiting to extinct.

I always go tesco / lotus.
Never even step inside this Giant.
