I've tried both 16" & 18". 205 & 235.

Similar lousy sxxt. Wider tire behaved even worse.

Aiyo.. I jst bought. but have not installed. still sitting in my living room. That bad huh ? I got VP4 - 205/50/16. Replacing 215/45/16. Whats the average do you drive that made u feel that the tires were not up to your requirements? Im jst daily to and fro from office. Dont really go past 100.

Should I sell them off?

I give you a few examples. Take it with a pinch of salt as I was using VP3. VP4 should have a slight improvement over VP3:
1. Tire spin from stop & go, on wet road.
2. When cornering, even during not so high speed between 60~80 km/h, there were incidences of tailspin (oversteer) on wet roads. If you do high speed cornering, for sure gonna have oversteer.
3. High risk of aquaplaning when drive over puddles.
4. Very noisy tire. Slow or fast. The faster you go, the higher the noise.

One of my cars are still using this tire. 235/50R18. Only 14k km driven with this tire. At the moment, this tire really limits the enjoyment of driving that car. I have to keep using this tire until botak or until I cannot tahan anymore.

Decision is up to you. You can try experience yourself. For me, I will not be not using this tire brand series anymore.

1, haha maybe your car too much torque? mine slow so should be ok
2, this one hmmm i usually hover around 70-80, currently on 7 year old tires still quite confident, but bunga wearing thin with this new work location im at. more travelling. can be a concern.
3 my phobia la, first accident due to aquaplaning.
4 so which have you swapped to ?

Im still on my ContiPremiumContact 2. haha tats how stingy I am on tires.

https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Hankook/Ventus-Prime-4.htm

FYI, latest test VP4 is even more quiet than Primacy 4.

https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2024-Mo...r-Tyre-Test.htm

Comfort
Bridgestone produced the highest noise level at 73.3 dB, while Hankook was the quietest at 71.2 dB during the pass-by noise test

I believe every new generation for sure got improvement, i will still go for VP4 if given a good value.
Only weakness from the test the comfort level is just average.

Thats why I see mixed reviews everywhere. review sites seems to say its decent enough, bt many user experience also quiet mixed. I went for this cos saw a few recommended in my car whatsapp group.

doh.gif

probably give it a go, if not up to expectations then sell to my friend

I'm still using this tire on my 18 inchers. The replacement tires that I have in my wishlist would be Continental MaxContact MC7, Toyo Proxes Sport 2 or Yokohama Advan Sport V107.

However, on my other car that was also using VP3, the 16 inchers, I have swapped to Michelin Primacy 4. All round improvement. No more tire overspin or tail spin on wet roads.
*
aduh....

unfortunately last nite I had a tire puncture, so this morning pasang the VP4 already. going from 45 to 50, cornering feels a bit spongy, esp if do sudden movements. Not liking that. But can adjust driving style, so far no rain yet. Definitely cant spirited drive like before, need to dial down slightly.

road noise, feels like not much improvement over my 7 year old rubbers. hmm.gif

But new rubbers sure absorb road pimples better.

Need some km to scrub off the new tyres  layer 1st. Its not so much of comfort tyre so expect some noise for the VPs

aiyoh... from 215/45 to 205/50... better comfort n fc...  everything else worse
*
So after a few days of driving with some wet stints, its obvious going down from 215/45 to 205/50 has a big impact on the limits of cornering and aggressiveness of switching directions. Needed some time to re-wire my brain to the new tires. Slow~ slow~ granted I'm not a performance type or driver, just used to the earlier profile for 7 years so its engrained into the butt dyno. Grip is good enough for my car. Didn't expect much more.

And the noise seem to have gotten less than earlier. As expected, 50's absorbs the road surfaces better. So, so far everything seems to be within expectations.

Hopefully can last at least for the next 5 years.

wanna rant abit.. cos i saw tire thread.. biggrin.gif last year bought 4x hankook vertus prime 4. grip comfort sound all ok for me. week after install rear left tire got punctured.. and many more.

Attached Image

last week early morning while heading to work I saw that tire abit flat, so I decided to drop by a petrol station while otw to work. by the time reach the petrol station it was fully flat. I shocked, I immediately pump to full, since the shop was less than 5 mins i away i just drove there. by the time i reach tire shop it was fully deflated again. So i knew it was bad. then we pull out 1.5" screw and it was located close to the side wall.
Attached Image

patched up the hole and saw the sidewall near the puncture a bit bulging. die...
Attached Image

drove to work. finish work, aduh, flat again. had to change to spare tire.

next morning headed to workshop took out that tire, counted 4 patched (inc latest) holes since I bought the tires. and found 1 extra hole not yet patched. doh.gif doh.gif so that particular tire had total of five punctures!!!!
Attached Image

Anyways if got see puncture, terus swap spare, dont risk driving further! cry.gif lesson learnt.
