Hi, my new Alza comes with TOYO Proxes CR1 195/60R16. The rims are 6J.

1. Is it wise to upgrade to from 195 to 205?
2. If yes, do I need to maintain 60R16 or reduce to 55R16?
3. This being my primary daily to work vehicle and also long travel vehicle, is is wise to opt for Michellin Primacy 4 ST or PS4 ST

Many thanks in advance.

First of all, what do you think upgrade to wider tires is a good idea? Wider tires does not mean better performance as your ride is still a MPV.

Since your buying new Alza, changing different tire spec. can void your car warranty especially related to suspension, steering rack & if strict even gearbox. Unless you dont care about warranty please proceed.

If you got a lot of cash you want to buy Michelin Primacy 4, just go for it. Personally i will look into the car, driver requirement and budget. Nowadays i recommend by comparing value:performance ratio tires from middle range brand like Falken/Hankook. Goodyear also getting more and more better in term of performance nowadays.

Thank you for your advice and input bro.

The reason I posted this question is because, in my previous Alza (2014 model), I was using PS3 all the way. It was superb especially on wet braking and good tyre response time. But it was very noisy. The stock tires were Silverstone 185/60R15, but I upgrade it to PS3 195/55R15. But I realised that the speedometer was inaccurate, and the side thread worn out quickly. The PS3 usually last me for +/- 45k – 50k mileage.

This time, a person asked me to try Primacy 4 ST instead of PS4 ST.

BTW, do you know tires got many category?

PS3/PS4 - UHP (Ultra High Performance)

Primacy 4 - Premium Touring (Falken ZE310/Hankook VP3 - Same Category)

Silverstone or Toyo original/cheap tires - ECO/Touring

When you understand the different tire category, each of their pro & con then go further up into sport rim offset and width, alignment/camber settings.

To change to bigger wider size without proper knowledge is just wasting your tire potential, for new ride usually i would recommend to stick to original tire size until warranty over. Upgrading to Primacy 4 would be a step up in-term of overall but dont expect performance level like PS3/PS4.
