Any new contender for all rounder like PS4?

On my second set now, previous set on previous car did 40k km, current car with current set also done 40k km, about 30% threads left. Will wish to find a similar tyre for the next car that I’m potentially getting, can’t live without UHP, saved my ass countless times.

Size should be 235/40R18. Falken FK520? PS5’s retail price is quite steep.

I did repeated the PS4 again and again. Happy with that especially raining season

Yeah, still happy with my second set. Wear is even and performance is consistent in most conditions.

Only gripe is tiny chunks on sipes missing especially on the outer shoulder on front wheel, rear wheel with camber then not hitting that area much. Had same issue from XM2 days  sweat.gif
*
I think the chunks issue are happened to those performance tyres when they using a grippier rubber, softer rubber. Instead of harder rubber like those in Eco Tyres model.

Hi Bros, i m currently looking for replacement for my Hankook S1 Evo 3 which is around 40k km. I got to say that Hankook S1 Evo 3 is grippy both dry and wet. My car have good soundproofing  and hence i didnt notice much noise.
I am a high mileage traveling between JB and KL. I drive between 160-200kmh and my sedan car is on the heavy side.
I wonder if there is any uhp tyres that is better than my current hankook s1 evo 3?
Size of my tyre is 245/45/R19
🙏

Best is PS4 for me. Never try PS5 yet.

If you go do research, PS5 actually a downgrade in term of performance when compared to PS4. Just go compare the Traction rating on the tires itself you will know. PS4 - AA, PS5 - A (Only 1 A). The only thing PS5 good over PS4 is comfort and higher wear rating (last longer compare to PS4)
*
PS4 for me last 40k km max. That is with proper alignment/ rotation done every 10k km. But performance/grip on wet, it best for me. Always felt it can cope with wet heavy rain, hence repeated few times already. Once current tyre finished, will try Continental MC7 since many said good already, even though I had worst feedback for UC6 on wet (tyre given when bought the car)

40k max? My FE now clocked 43k km and tyres still looking good for another 10k km

Maybe use old trunk road most of time. And the rear negative chamber will make the rear inner side finished first

Ativa tyres,

T005a vs uc6 vs assurance maxguard?
*
Believe the Goodyear is the best. Cz always saw many letgo the UC6 at marketplace with relatively good condition, use for less than a year etc. And based on own experience using UC6, it's a quiet tyre, ok at dry but worst on wet, heavy rain

i saw a video from Youtube that they paste the insulator foam inside the tyre wall. I didn't see any one in Malaysia posting about this method. Is this legit and effective?
*
Pirelli tyre had this. And one model from Giti tyre also had this foam inside tyres. Effective if u watch YouTube review for NVH from tyres

You want to use in what car?
If normal road car, foam only will add weight and will not help much

If EV, yes this will help reduce a lot of road noise as EV itself already very quiet and any additional road noise with be annoying.

If die die want to buy, just go aliexpress or taobao and buy. Plenty of cheap tire foams from China as nowadays their EV is quite a lot otr.
*
Quite pricey in shopee for inner foam

Budget about 500-1000 per tire
Normal driving. Occasional long distance highway driving.
Preferably smooth and quiet drive
Can accept run flat tire

Currently using continental UC6 for front tire and bridgestone potenza s001 rft for rear

Tq.
*
Since that budget and 18" tyres. U can get Michelin model already. Try get PS4 at Oscar Bukit Kemuning for best price.

Please replace faster the junk UC6, its doesn't do great at heavy rain driving

My car has been running Conti's Extreme Contact DWS06+ for the past few years (recond unit), but will need tyres changing very soon, was trying to find the exact same tyres to replace it as they are quite a good IMO, quiet, grips well on dry and wet, but couldnt find any in Malaysia, closest being the MaxContact 7.

My main objective for the tyres are for it to be a good touring tyres that are quiet and performs well for the average road user, ideally something that is on par or better than the Extreme Contact i currently have. I'd rather spend a few hundred bucks extra now than regret changing to a worse tyre and regret for the next 30-50k km.
Any suggestions will be most welcomed, and thanks in advance

Vouch for PS4 or PS4s

Thanks for the reply. In terms of road noisy, especially in poor road conditions (which there are a lot), is it too loud?
*
For me its is acceptable (for tyre noise) from my experience with PS3, and how many cycles of PS4. The grip when heavy rain is there from this tyres. Myself use it on Alor Gajah made car, my ear accustomed to poor NVH, high noise from outside on my car, so tyre noise wont bother that much. But drove my sister's car, W212 E-Class Mercedes, also with PS4, due to much better NVH, almost no tyre noise from this tyre. Same goes to other old Merz w211 diesel, also similar feedback due to better NVH than my car.

On other note, saw Giti (forgot which model) comes with tyre foam inside the tyres similar to one high end Pirelli model, maybe can have a look on that

Don't really need performance...looking for price + longevity. How is Goodyear and Toyo in comparison with Falken, Hankook and Yoko?
*
if don't really need top2 performance but affordable price, decent tyre tread life, my experience, Toyo CR1 for a SUV size car. its better than my previous tyre model of Continental UC6 for raining grip, and after putting about 15k km, the wear on the CR1 still low,

usually bought the PS4 at Oscar cz goodest price vs others. Klang prices are more premium nowadays, own experience, not like 2010 era. And the famous Kedai Papan shop at Klang, I hate their service treatment.

My experience with VP3 was frustrating. Lack of grip in wet. Very poor aquaplaning resistance.

It was fitted on 2 cars of different sizes. The driving experience was roughly similar.

Drive slow or fast also lost grip. The bad experience dettered me from using Hankook tires ever again.
*
Hankook VP3 was mid range tyres by them. Last time almost bought it cz of attractive price for 18", until the shop ask, if u need similar level as PS4 (my current tyres), this is a downgrade. So back to Oscar for another round of PS4.

Maybe their Hankook S1 Evo series can fight with Michelin PS series, but never experience so far

Tires manufacturer will improve by introducing newer model replacement.
Like in the past Falken a lot of people complain no use during the old ZE522 model, after ZE914 model come out the performance improved a lot.
Manufacturers for sure will listen to complains and improve in order to win back orders.
*
Last time eyeing this falken azenis fk510, but due to less shop bring it in here, and iinm made in Japan, the price is more expansive than PS4 Michelin.

Agree with DM3 on Hankook Ventus V12 ...it was a great tire until it was no longer in production due to end-of-life product.
I am now on Continental Ultra Contact 7 (UC7) 214/45/R17, and it is unbelievable quiet tires with it's truly engineered in Malaysia story.
*
Your honest opinion for UC7 on wet heavy rain traction. I was disappointed with UC6 wet traction (original equipped tyre), its skidding at turning down karak highway + rain, at not so much speed. I thought SUV handling issues, but after change the tyre, similar routes, ok back as normal tyre. On FB car group, similar feedback for UC6 until saw plenty of owner sold their half used UC6 at affordable price, rm100-120/pcs for 225-55-19. No doubt they UC series is quiet but thats about it
