You need to over inflate it. Previously i was having same problem with Viking on myvi. Then i over inflate it from car recommended 220 to 225 or 230. Since car is front wheel drive, only overinflate the front. If you drive rear wheel, suggest not to over inflate because the rear is not heavy and you do not want to lessen grip. Suggest same pressure for AWD. Unless if you have front wear issues, then over inflate front.

Pros : You reduce side thread wear and is much more concentrated on the center. Steering feels lighter. If your brakes are in good condition, braking response feels better. Reduced noise (depends on compound & thread design)

Cons : Reduced contact patch = reduced grip (Understeer). Wet braking might be affected. Ride might be jarring if your shocks are not good condition.

Another reason why the side threads wear off so much is because YOU TAKE CORNERS VERY AGGRESIVELY AND FAST. Driving fast straight does not wear out center threads as much as when you corner with load on the 2 outer wheels.

It is just science and understanding. The formula to reduce the problem is already there.

There is science in tyre tuning if you do not have tunable suspensions. Buying based on threads and brands are not necessary the only way.

Your explanation helps clarify certain things. I think mine happened due to the cornering habits.

Hi, bought Michelin ps5 tyre but made in CHINA.

is it ok the quality ?
Previously was using ps5 Tyre but made in THAILAND.

what is the difference between Michelin tyre made in CHINA and made in THAILAND ?
*
Usually no difference, just different manufacturing plant. Manufacturer got many factories (Or maybe outsource to others) around the globe so certain size if being make there and got stock they will procure from there. Being a big brand, their quality control should also be good.

Few question:
1. If RWD, new tayar must change to rear right?
2. Can use different size? example 225/50/17 to 225/45/17.
3. Can use different size in front and back? Sekali 4 pcs critical damage

Read you car manual, there it will show you the recommended staggered size combo that is safe to use. This is especially important/critical is your car comes with traction control/ESP.

Few question:
1. If RWD, new tayar must change to rear right? -> FWD or RWD new tires are always in the rear first (If all 4 same size)
2. Can use different size? example 225/50/17 to 225/45/17. -> No, nowadays most cars got advance safety system like VSA/Traction Control and also ADAS system, even a small change of size of tires will impact the height of the vechicle (suspension geometry), tire rotation speed. You might think it is small issue but when emergency small difference can make a big impact.
3. Can use different size in front and back? Sekali 4 pcs critical damage -> No, go back to no. 2 explanation

If budget constrain ask for budget range tires with similar size, so many brands, models & price range nowadays in market why must go to your usual tire brand shop? Online like shopee also can get good deal for some tires.

Odd/ special sizes, out of 5 tyre shops I enquire, only 1 shop has ready stock.

More common size is 215/55R17.

Is it OK if I change to 215/55?
Would it effect safety/ADAS system?

Bro, order la de. You tot all those BMW/Merc special size tires got ready stock? Since you ask so many shop ask them order for you, the main distributor if got stock 1~2 weeks time can ship to them. Besides that shopee/lazada also got a lot of people selling the same size, why need to sacrifice safety for different size tire?

Hi, I have a conti car currently on manufacturer's run flats. Ride is quite jarring. Planning to change to non rft when time comes up soon. Few questions:

1. I am assuming it is quite normal to change from rfts to non rfts. How does one usually plan for a flat? Buy spare? Keep tire repair kit? Or just call a nearby tire shop (if it happens during day time?

2. Are the tire repair kit (with compressor and liquid) practical and feasible in real life?

3. I was looking at Primacy 5 and PS5 for the replacements tires. However, Primacy 5 does not have size for the rear tires. One option the tire shop suggested was to have P5 in front and PS5 at the back, which I thought was a bit unconventional. I this a viable option?

Thanks for feedback.

Based on reading and asking around, most will tell non Run Flat drive much better, quieter, and for UHP well known tyres, perform better than Run Flat anyday.

No 2, maybe had to depends on spare tyres, but probability to get flat much2 lower.

Will suggest to put TPMS, this reduce chances driving with low pressure tyres and can detect if tyres had nail for example

For newer conti, most already got built in TPMS or simple tire monitoring system to help owner detect low tire pressure. Even my dad's E90 BMW also got low tire pressure monitoring, when got low pressure warning signal come out usually got time to go to the nearest tire shop to patch it unless big impact/tear then no choice.

Well you and i have the same plan. Normally a puncture or two by nails are not a major concern as it takes time to lose all the air in the tires and most if not all the contis have sensors that will notify you if it happens.

The major concern is the cut damage by sharp objects. That will cause the tire or tires to loose air almost immediately however occurrence would be rare. If that is a risk that require mitigation then you are strongly advised to keep a spare tire as tire repair kit is should be useless for such damage. Or just call your insurance for towing if you have that covered.

As for tires, would recommend to use the same brand and type if your car is all wheel drive.

Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Dunlop are all same category as Michelin, Hankook & Pirelli under Premium Tyres.
If you got no budget concern you can choose from any of the premium category brand list.
