You need to over inflate it. Previously i was having same problem with Viking on myvi. Then i over inflate it from car recommended 220 to 225 or 230. Since car is front wheel drive, only overinflate the front. If you drive rear wheel, suggest not to over inflate because the rear is not heavy and you do not want to lessen grip. Suggest same pressure for AWD. Unless if you have front wear issues, then over inflate front.
Pros : You reduce side thread wear and is much more concentrated on the center. Steering feels lighter. If your brakes are in good condition, braking response feels better. Reduced noise (depends on compound & thread design)
Cons : Reduced contact patch = reduced grip (Understeer). Wet braking might be affected. Ride might be jarring if your shocks are not good condition.
Another reason why the side threads wear off so much is because YOU TAKE CORNERS VERY AGGRESIVELY AND FAST. Driving fast straight does not wear out center threads as much as when you corner with load on the 2 outer wheels.
It is just science and understanding. The formula to reduce the problem is already there.
There is science in tyre tuning if you do not have tunable suspensions. Buying based on threads and brands are not necessary the only way.
Your explanation helps clarify certain things. I think mine happened due to the cornering habits.Pros : You reduce side thread wear and is much more concentrated on the center.
