Different driver behavior will got different mileage, if you always speed like hell and jack rabbit (heavy foot) at traffic lights or stops, enter corners like no brakes 30~40k also finish treads. If drive conservatively some can even last 60~80k. laugh.gif There is no true answer on this.

I'm still using this tire on my 18 inchers. The replacement tires that I have in my wishlist would be Continental MaxContact MC7, Toyo Proxes Sport 2 or Yokohama Advan Sport V107.

However, on my other car that was also using VP3, the 16 inchers, I have swapped to Michelin Primacy 4. All round improvement. No more tire overspin or tail spin on wet roads.

aduh....

unfortunately last nite I had a tire puncture, so this morning pasang the VP4 already. going from 45 to 50, cornering feels a bit spongy, esp if do sudden movements. Not liking that. But can adjust driving style, so far no rain yet. Definitely cant spirited drive like before, need to dial down slightly.

road noise, feels like not much improvement over my 7 year old rubbers. hmm.gif

But new rubbers sure absorb road pimples better.

Dear epjx31,

215/45R17
Toyota Altezza RS200
Michelin PS4

Front left tyre got punctured on the sidewall.
Yesterday learned from 1 tiktok video: tyre sidewall damage cannot be repaired.

Looking to replace front 2 tyres.
Drive style comfort and relax, car for balik kampung during weekend.

Considering
1. Maxxis Ipro Vitra
2. Bridgestone RE004
3. Ventus Prime 4
4. Ventus S1 evo3 - closest dimensions is 205/45R17

Appreciate your advise.
Thank you.

Need some km to scrub off the new tyres layer 1st. Its not so much of comfort tyre so expect some noise for the VPs

Maxxis Victra I-Pro have superb grip. Only downside is high noise & low mileage.

I've used this tire before on my Persona.

Considerably cheap. But when taking into account the low mileage (I only got about 30k ish km on these tires), value proposition is just not that great.

So after a few days of driving with some wet stints, its obvious going down from 215/45 to 205/50 has a big impact on the limits of cornering and aggressiveness of switching directions. Needed some time to re-wire my brain to the new tires. Slow~ slow~ granted I'm not a performance type or driver, just used to the earlier profile for 7 years so its engrained into the butt dyno. Grip is good enough for my car. Didn't expect much more.

And the noise seem to have gotten less than earlier. As expected, 50's absorbs the road surfaces better. So, so far everything seems to be within expectations.

Hopefully can last at least for the next 5 years.

Actually no, due to the extra weight of EV compared to ICE cars, the tire wear rate will be faster if use a normal tire.

That is why you have to use EV specific tires or at least SUV tires for EV cars since they have stiffer sidewalls to accomodate the extra load.

yes, due to the massive weight of the car's net weight. Buy EV-specific tyres at much premium price or take normal tyre but worn out faster.

my diesel is about 1.8t, same weight and also same pickup as my ev... i also drive them similarly due to their great torque... wink.gif

so when i said all things equal, apples to apples... wear is similar

even for my diesel, i have to be careful and only get XL rated tires... and fyi my ev comes fitted with normal XL tires only

you only need special ev tires if your ev is very heavy beyond what you can find in a normal tire or has insane power/torque that you launch frequently... as for acoustic foams, you can now get it with some normal tires...

edit: just to add... high performance ice from bmw, merc, etc... some weight 2-2.5t with 0-100 of 3-5s... these numbers are comparable to some evs yet they use normal tires...
