I think it is normal, basically all Xperia 1 VI, as long you hand grip your phone normal then shake at the phone edge angle with a bit force but fast pace, you will hear the mechanical sound,
If other owner can verify if this also happen to them then it would be great
From my testing, that mechanical part is loose at most of the time, so far the only time it is tight and when i shake it there is no sound is when i go to Macro Mode in camera apps, but i only test Macro mode so far, maybe there is some camera mode will also make the mechanical part tight and unmovable during that mode
When the telephoto camera is activated, all the servo motors are energized so it won't move, when you are not using the camera, they are not energize hence it can loosely move, that's the physics of the phenomena.
Is that a problem in long run, I have no answer to that, normal usage like gesture control of your game shouldn't be a problem I guess, it's rather mild movement. But to shake it violently (such as tng shake game x 10,000 times) all the time that, enough induce audible rattling sound from distance, only time will tell. Putting on my engineering hat, I will tell you that all moving parts will have a design life, especially if it goes beyond the boundary condition of its design. So take care of your stuff, pakai common sense. I am pretty sure all camera OIS mechanism is also susceptible to damage if it's violently impacted. To have moving parts in general will lead to vulnerability.
On a separate note, my Xperia pro-i also has rattling sound (due to movable aperture diaphragm), camera still work till this day (2 years and 7 months) although the wifi is busted, a good whack on the phone can fix it for a couple hours before it goes kaput again (suspect defective soldering connection issue due to constant heat abuse)
