Most telephoto lens if not all in the market is periscope in nature, it just the complex variable zoom range that limits size of the sensor in the camera module without leading more bulk.

Anyway I have been using the phone without tempered glass, didn't use one either for my previous Xperia or any other phone for the matter, gorilla glass is s generally pretty resilient for day to day use if you didn't drop your phone on a tarmac floor. The feeling of using the phone on its original glass is really satisfying, no raised edges and so on

OKAY it's the temper glass black frame block a very few pixel there, but since it's a pretty edge area i guess i can just rely on the Display Cutout setting to Fix it I guess , since the temper glass is new and its material seem like quite good, the swiping is quite great.

So far overall feeling is great with the phone, But I immediate missed 3 built in feature from Rog Phone 6:
1.  Double Tab to Sleep
2. Lock screen picture auto change to new picture (setup the pictures folder by myself) everytime I wake up the phone in lock screen to check the Time
3. Twins App (Duplicate App for different login)
4. Hide App (Special Gesture to open a Menu with hidden apps u set up, i used it for my banking related apps)

the Upgrade I can immediate feel from Rog Phone 6:
1. Display Quality
- I think the Color in Xperia 1 VI have their own adjustment, color look more punchy, maybe something do with their Bravia Setting

2. Camera
- No Doubt, ROG Phone 6 a gaming phone that don't focus on Camera Quality really lose a significant margin compare to Xperia 1 VI

3. Sound
- Louder and Clear compare ROG Phone 6
*
For double sleep you can probable enable Side Sense and installed custom app to lock screen and program one of the side sense gesture to launch the app to put your device to sleep. I use tasker for the dim and lock function but other custom app might work too.

As for Twins app function, you can install the app called Island, this will setup the native android work profile so that you can install duplicated apps, you can also freeze the app individually using island in your work profile, have been using that since my Pixel days.

The Sony Center guy told me that it's not a guarantee that they will give out the Sony style case when you registered, it depends on Sony.

what do you mean tasker? is it a 3rd Party apps or a built in feature? i don mind having an apps to lock screen, but i abit reluctant to install 3rd party apps for certain specific feature, i hope my phone can be as clean and as 'stock' as possible

gosh, the promotion of free the case sound 'scammy', i hope i would get it becuz the so call premium transparent case is so OILY and like a Fingerprint magnet
*
Tasker is an app that allows you program your phone to do a lot automation and stuff, I used it extensively to achieve multiple things, like disable my VPN when in the car to allow wireless android auto, etc.

But if you really want to just lock your screen, it would recommend you to just find one of the few thousands of app in Play store that can do that. I was using this at some point of time https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...roid.screenlock, just install this then enable to Side Sense and program one of the gesture to launch this app like this

I end up go for Screen Lock EX (RM3.99), a very clean apps without ads, free version of it, after u lock screen ur touch on fingerprint reader to unlock phone won't work, u have to use password, but paid ver will resolve that.

I like the side bar menu feature too, ROG Phone 6 also have it, but ROG Phone 6 is like globally available at all time, Xperia ver seem like when you open game it wont work anymore but for game xperia game enhancer is kinda have same feature as the side bar menu. Quite satisfy with the alternative solution instead of double tab, I put the apps in home bottom screen, basically instead of double tab now i just need tab once to lock screen.

Also, the game enhancer add apps to let the apps run Bypass charging mode also kinda more limited (even though game can be added, but other apps is very limited) compare to Rog Phone 6, Rog Phone 6 can add fb, youtube, sportify, almost most apps but still have some apps being hidden too but overall more option than xperia, even though it's not really a feature i often use aside from game, but it kinda a software downgrade.
*
I just tested, you are right, it basically doesn't show up when you are running a full screen app like game, youtube when in full screen, I guess it would be kind of annoying if you kept triggering Side Sense when playing game or see the side sense bar while viewing a full screen video.

Checking on game enhancer (I don't play much game), I remembered I can add Kodi in game enhancer to trigger 60 fps mode (older Kodi has problem with 120 fps screen), just checked funny that basically all social media app is listed in the Game Enhancer, I learn something new today.

I am using this https://a.aliexpress.com/_oo3wGFS, this kind of case is really light weight and sturdy, important thing is that it has a cut out for the shutter button so that your shutter button would not feel mushy (although they could have increase the cut out, Xperia Pro-i version was better because they left a big cut out for it)

Have some werid experience, whenever u open camera in Xperia 1 VI you will hear a voice at the back, like a clicking sound,

i think maybe it is normal some mechanism at the camera hardware is opened up or wat, but if u hold the phone tightly and shake hard abit the phone willing keep having that clicking sound

wonder if you guys also having the same behavior in ur xperia 1 vi?
*
It's the telephoto assembly, there are mechanical moving parts that allow the lenses to move to change the focal length. Just turn around the phone and look at the telephoto assembly, you can see the lens moves to position when you click the shutter button to turn on the camera. This is perfectly normal.

Because just now i doing something like TnG promo like u need to shake ur phone to reveal the voucher, but when shaking the phone keep heard the noise, i guess this phone is not for playing anything that required u to keep constantly shaking the phone such as Game or those shaking phone to get coin/voucher thingy?

by right constantly shaking the phone like forcing the camera mechanical part moving will cause damage right?

Also I am curious, this phone is allowed 2 Sim, but actually is it after u placing a Micro SD Card, then this phone cant have space for 2nd Sim Card already?
*
Nah don't think so unless you really shake it profusely, if it's like normal usage like gesture control of the game, shouldn't be a problem.

It's dual sim with SD card combo, if you use the micro SD card, you can't use the second sim slot for the sim card.

I think it is normal, basically all Xperia 1 VI, as long you hand grip your phone normal then shake at the phone edge angle with a bit force but fast pace, you will hear the mechanical sound,

If other owner can verify if this also happen to them then it would be great

From my testing, that mechanical part is loose at most of the time, so far the only time it is tight and when i shake it there is no sound is when i go to Macro Mode in camera apps, but i only test Macro mode so far, maybe there is some camera mode will also make the mechanical part tight and unmovable during that mode
*
When the telephoto camera is activated, all the servo motors are energized so it won't move, when you are not using the camera, they are not energize hence it can loosely move, that's the physics of the phenomena.

Is that a problem in long run, I have no answer to that, normal usage like gesture control of your game shouldn't be a problem I guess, it's rather mild movement. But to shake it violently (such as tng shake game x 10,000 times) all the time that, enough induce audible rattling sound from distance, only time will tell. Putting on my engineering hat, I will tell you that all moving parts will have a design life, especially if it goes beyond the boundary condition of its design. So take care of your stuff, pakai common sense. I am pretty sure all camera OIS mechanism is also susceptible to damage if it's violently impacted. To have moving parts in general will lead to vulnerability.

On a separate note, my Xperia pro-i also has rattling sound (due to movable aperture diaphragm), camera still work till this day (2 years and 7 months) although the wifi is busted, a good whack on the phone can fix it for a couple hours before it goes kaput again (suspect defective soldering connection issue due to constant heat abuse)

If anyone can help verify this, I would really appreciate it, just want to double confirm if it is just my Xperia 1 VI is a fault unit before I can eraze all data proceed to send to Sony Center for Warranty Claim and Diagnose purpose.

Can anyone try to take a picture in Photo Mode then make it 2x Zoom, cover the lens with your hand to achieve full black condition, capture it and upload to here? The most easily way to capture it is that place you photo on flat surface (disable the Night Mode) and make sure the camera preview show black background, then capture it, u should able to see the very very very small red dot pixel/hot pixel in the middle in the Camera Preview and also Capture Result Picture

Also please make sure you close/disable the Auto Night Mode, because Night Mode will remove the hot Pixel/red dot.
*
Been away for some time, just tested this on my unit, no issue. I did it manually as well to make sure i have really low shutter speed below 1/80, no red dot in the middle. Hopefully, your RMA process is smooth

Would you mind helping me to check this again? Try to find the vowifi seting here (as per screen shot). I went to Sony store asking for permission to put in my sim card into the display set to check, but they don't allow it since that would activate the warranty and I would have to buy it. So can't test there.

Thanks a lot.

The setting is not available unless your carrier activates it on their end. I am using Maxis, they didn't activate it. You maybe able to convince them to activate it for you on their end but there's no guarantee about it.

Thanks. I've spoken to their Careline but they insists problem is with sony. The device is listed on maxis device list that support vowifi. I couldn't get any response from Sony. Dead end so far... Any idea what else could I do?

I didn't see Xperia 1vi in Maxis' list though

Hi just to let you know that using shisuka and pixel ims made wifi calling work for me. See the icon now becomes wifi and calling.

Hmm... I did that for 1V, I can enable the setting, but still in actual usage it didn't work. Checking with the special code and even with the switch on it says wifi calling not provisioned.
Are you using maxis and 1VI?
*
Did you get the wifi calling logo on the status bar like I did? Yes I am using Hotlink postpaid

No I didn't get that. Your model of 1V is DQ-72? I am on maxis postpaid too.
Can you try the code *#*#4636#*#* and check phone information, and check is wifi calling provisioned?

If indeed it works for you I will try to setup using Shizuku and pixel ims again..

Thanks a lot for checking.
*
No I am not using Xperia 1V, I am using Xperia 1 VI, EC72. Yes, wifi calling is enabled on *#*#info#*#*.

Oops . Of course it has to be more than that. I played a bit more with the camera at the store today, also I compared the screen under my normal usage to make sure I am not bothered by the 1080 screen (luckily I don't really see any difference so far to my 4k screen).
The only thing holding me back is of course the $$, and interestingly the size of the phone, how I really like the 21:9 profile so the larger 1vi is a bit less comfortable in hand, at least for me.

So, I am still having second thoughts about it.
*
It's marginal upgrade, a little bit brighter, a little bit louder, a little bit longer in zoom, a little better upgrade cycle. Probably doesn't warrant an upgrade over 1v. Heck, I don't even think it's warrant an upgrade over my Xperia Pro-I, if it wasn't the faulty wifi.

Mostly HK and TW can renew Telco package so they earned the difference. Eventually it's new.. so quite worth it.. recently Lazada offer 10% became 5.8k+ with headset. Quite worth the deal too..

Hmm I tried. It do have the wifi calling setting however it's not working. I don't see wifi calling icon on status bar.. report if u can.. wish to know too. But I'm not so required as my area full with 5G signal. VoLTE is fine for me..

Fyi the wifi calling can be quite choosy, doesn't work in my office wifi but works in my house, sometimes need to toggle and untoggle wifi calling to get it work again.

Haha you wanna buy mine with discount? It remained unused.

By the way I am surprised that they still do the bundle, provided it's earphone bundle which actually I quite like.
