I'm on unifi 100mbps 129rm/month and 2 years contract just ended. Recently received a call from maxis offering free 6 months if I port over to maxis. I just need a line to watch YouTube/tv box/surf net. Thats all. The good side is saving 6 months internet bills. I registered straight from tm center not using agents. What's your thoughts?

My brother opted to port to Maxis too. Capitalize on the free 6 mths.

The bigger saving is if u're also on Maxis postpaid, u can downgrade to the lowest RM99 package. Since by having both postpaid & home fiber, u can opt to combine the 2 into (a plan which I can't recall the name), and get unlimited data on ur mobile. All family lines too.

Good offer, IMHO. In my case; maxis is better (even tho they're using the same infra as Unifi). Weird huh?

Try to check with the Maxis agent. I think the current offer is 300mbps for RM129, free 6 months. If that is the offer, I would say go for it.

Only last mile infra is using the same with Unifi. Your connection will be routed through Maxis own gateway.

If just for regular use on big site, network characteristic doesn't matter at all. Just pick whichever is cheap.

if you got transfer code, give it to TMpoint, high chance they offer you cheaper price, my close friend just got RM119 for 300Mbps

apparently TM can give cheaper price like TIME, depend on area I think, if fiber deployment paid it self...

i was using unifi from 2010 to 2022

since covid started everyday 9pm will have some issue to many major websites.

there is a whole thread about it on this website too

for 2 years i complained weekly because i had issues accessing international websites and i needed to access a uk based website

the issue used to fix itself like once or twice a month and come back

ping also very high for gaming, to asia servers too after 9pm

switched to maxis in june for free 6 months promo

everything seems faster, no issue after 9pm

everything loads just how it should.

only issue is maxis own router, you need the router if you want to use maxis voip. for the new wifi 6 router maxis has blocked the ability to change dns server

so either you use maxis dns and have house phone, or use own router with own dns and no house phone.

i did try do vlan tagging with my smart switch to try and tag maxis router as voip vlan and my own router as internet but both did not work sadly

other stuff to consider. not necessarily your main decision criteria (when compared to pricing, broadband package, reliability etc), but is part of the piece to consider before commiting to it

True, it's very unfair to be blacklisted in CTOS with a bad financial rating and be treated like a bankrupted individual just because of a telco service would you?
Your career, future loan approvals, social ratings, credit card applications an even business prospects will be severely affected by it.

Does a broadband/telco service mean so much to you?

Think wisely.

I highly recommend you to stick with Unifi. If you find your current Unifi plan kind of expensive to you, you go downgrade it. Best of all about Unifi is when got problem anytime, can use Live Chat Customer Service. The Live Chat Customer Service is really good.

TNB allo
QUOTE
There will be penalty of RM 500 if you ask for termination before the contract end

Time fibre
QUOTE
If you are still within your 24-month contract period, you are subject to a RM500 early termination penalty (ETP).
well time got online exclusive non contract plan(RM400 upfront fee).
Source: respective website faq as of 08/09/22
TLDR: only digi, time, allo and umobile charge flat 500 for in-contract termination. celcom is even worse than unifi or maxis for new user.
