General Information

If you're looking for a car that is very efficient when it comes to fuel, then look no further as I-DSI would fit your option very well. The I-DSI has good low to mid-range torque.

If you're looking for a car that has better power, and don't mind the slightly higher fuel consumption compared to I-DSI, then you should check out the VTEC model. The VTEC has good mid to hi-range torque.

Honda City's Fuel Tank is 42 litres. Both models I-DSI and VTEC has the steermatic control (7-speed manual/auto shifting on the steering).

The automatic gearbox's selection is:
P - Parking
R - Reverse
N - Neutral
D - Normal Driving
S - Sports Driving
L - Low Gear

I've created a simple wallpaper here for you guys (it's not that nice, but i think it's not that ugly as well)

Featured here is some paint shop pro editing (many layers used), plus i've embedded the eagle eye (is that what it's called?) so you can actually see what does City looks like if we have this on (so far i couldn't find any real pics of this thing implemented - only a headlight alone - on desk, not installed).

depends how "good" you are with your SA, as certain SC wld not entertain any warranty claims...

if 2003 - 2004 used car, very likely the warranty would have been over.. so you can do whatever you want with your car..
as for 2005-2007 used car and a brand new car, the car would be under warranty and it is transferable.
for modifications, voiding the warranty or not depends on your SC most of the time.

iinm, new i-dsi and vtec both has mp3/wma support.

oh.... u a big fan of crx? my brother's fren got 1.. i think he love the car very much.. i think he would make love to it.. but sadly he cant.. haha..

Actually it's the lever to engage VTEC for VTEC City, for iDSI it's the lever to make the car use all 8 spark plugs la.... it's there in the user manual in very small print.

by the way....that latch is the boost controller la....last time use fish bone now honda using this universal latch, easier no need to ketuk actuator with hammer.....now just pull and up boost to 2.00 Psi......the latch can also be found in ACE Hardware....

What ur CT Vtec FC (CT driving)? Full tank for CT is how much?

Well i personally heard for normal City if fill RM70 (full tank) can go up to 600+km.
Myself the furthest can go up to 540km onli if i'm not mistaken.

But i guess there's something wrong with my car, need to send it to retune engine or whatever.
Normal full tank can go up to 500km now onli if i use BP petrol.

But if use on highway, yes can save a lot

Wooo Fasap, i also planning to buy my first car - second hand city too in tis Nov or Dec or maybe Jan 08...cant afford buy new 1 la. I plan to get 2004 Black City VTEC..i think the price range is RM58K to RM65k like that. how bout u?? I-DSI or VTEC.
I heard they said City common problem is CVT problem wo. Is it?? how to check??

im also planning to get the 2004 nighthawk black CT... but im settling for an i-dsi... me oso tight budget maa.. dun want to eat pasir every mth paying for high monthly installments for me car... idsi save on fuel.. hv to compensate for lack of pwr lorr.. when got money can upgrade

price range frm wht ive surveyed:

03 idsi - less than 54K
04 idsi - 57-59K

vtec dun know much.. will try to hv a look dis weekend.. if can get under 60K may consider

Whats the price range of a 04 vtec CT ah? did any survey?

yeah.. just 88bhp.. but.. but.. fuel consumption is better thats my point!

but really man, if i got a little more budget, surely i go for vtec.. no compromise.

one thing i like abt honda is that they dont treat their lower line models so cheap, like other makes.. frm what i know, the only main diff for 3rd gen CT is just only the Vtec engine, rims, disc brakes, cd/mp3 player (correct me if im wrong). they really dont cut out on the 'important' stuff like a/bags and abs.. summore the 3rd gen oso hv steermatic as u said..

so if u prefer an idsi (like me ) you wont be feeling left out like driving a 'cheapest' honda CT.. imho laa...

yaya, price range for 04 Vtec CT is around RM61k to RM65k lo...i hope can get it at RM60k or even lower. I also dun want to eat pasir every month too. hehehehe!!! U knw last 2 month i went to a used car shop, i saw they sell the CT 05 Vtec at RM65k only ler. dunno y so cheap?? got problem?? accident b4?? haha!

Honda city look more class compare v others...beside tis city i cant think off any other car tat can beat v CT. (in same category la)

At kuching, mostly we go honda punya showroom there ask for 2nd hand car. las time i asked a AUG 04 city idsi gen3, for 58k.
then me n my dad do comparison la, the new 1 and old 1, old is 3.98% new 1 is 2.28%. actually u pay abit more n loan more 2 years u can use new car, so decided buy new car loh. Now waiting for nighthawk black.. haha.. i think la.. u loan for around that price for juz more 2 years, u get 2 drive a new car, would have a better 2nd hand value. Dat's wat i think la.. correct me if i'm wrong. u never know when u kenak toto and change car one.. haha..

Actually new CT you can get for as low 2.0% interest (4th gen), but new FL only can get abt 2.2%... i chked last week.. oso comes with abt RM1.5K discount..

of course newer car better value.. but my monthly pay dont got any value lorr i'm maxed at 3.82% @ 7yrs 2004 idsi/vtec ride... if up summore surely gonna makan pasir, batu, and rumput. Too much financial commitment nowadays

58K for an Aug 04 idsi is quite good.. But really can ask Honda Showrooms for 2nd hand cars ah? if like that better ask showroom.. hmmm why didnt i thot of that b4...? stoopid me..

if the car is less than 3 years old, ask for their maintenance booklet.
it's it most important part imho
and also check if got accident before or not.. check carpet whether got water mark.. check the rubber on door panel and car boot, peel it out and see... check for rust.
new but price is very cheap might be because the car had flooded before.. becarefull with this.

dude.. can you tell me abt the cvt 'dying' thing... how to know?? really afraid.. heard that if ure CVt busted, repair cost reaches 20K!! any means to chk up on the CVT? any indications tht the CVT gonna kong??

Get a good check on the CVT gearbox before you place your money on it. Many sold off City just because of the CVT starting to have problems.

indeed heard a lot abt this.. can anyone tell me how to "get a good chk on the CVT gbox"? send to SC is out of question coz havent bought yet rite? How can I make sure when Test-driving? is there any fluid indicators? any form of way the car drives if CVT rosak? jerking when shifting? cannot shift? etc?

really don want to be conned by these 2nd car dealers / owners..

Wahh...really taking on risk in buying second hand car wo. Scared!!! Later need to repair here n thr...ohh, wallet also hungry already. My fren said If u r going to buy second hand car, u might need to save 5k to 10k on servicing the car...wahh!!

so if you buy a 55K 2nd City.. expect that you are paying 60-65K lorr? ... darn.. seems like buying a new car a lot more worthy...

Yalo...becoz we dunno the previous owner how to sayang his/her car. Even worse is the car accident b4.....or the engine got problem which u cant check when u buy...after u drive for few months only come out the problem...plus maybe here got sound n thr got sound...really scared!!!

I calc b4..if second hand ...loan is 7 yrs...but if for new 1...loan is 9 yrs for me. More 2 yrs lo..how?? ok mah??
Plus if buy new car got discount n got 2 years free service or 40,000km (whichever comes first) which save alot of money ler.

if u have to stretch your loan all the way to 9years, you're paying way too much for interests and it also just means that it's not feasible for your financial situation to purchase.

if you're purchasing a used car and if it is still within 3 years / 100,000km.. it will be covered by warranty (as it is transferable).. that should be the same for the free maintenance service (2years or 40,000km whichever comes first).. i'd recommend a thorough inspection and service at Honda Service Centre for used car purchases, then following services you can just continue servicing it outside which is a lot cheaper but for the transmission, make sure you use genuine honda cvt fluid..

Yameh?? the new i-dsi is still Chrome Front Grille which means is 4th gen lo but dun hv steermatic wo..n juz VTEC only change the new FL - Honeycomb Grille. (from honda website - specifications)

now when i put to D, and press the gas, its sort of lag before moving... and there is a slight jerk to the car before moving....

usually before this, just masuk D and tekan gas, jalan smoothly...

I calculated b4, my interest 1 yr around RM900++. So, if lets say is RM950 thn 9 yrs interest is RM8550 lo. (I pay my downpayment more). Still dunno plan to buy new 1 or second hand 1. If buy second hand City thn will settle the loan in 4 to 5 yrs time lo since downpayment pay more. My fren said if pay more downpayment thn buy new car more good wo. How u guys think?? advise pls! I mean the 4th gen b4 this whole new facelift sh1t.. the 2006 models.. i-dsi all got steermatic.. and honda still selling em.. lower interest rates than new 4th gen facelift (2.3%).. and lesser waiting time compared to new FL versions.. some may take up to 2-3mths!

yep.. went to honda showroom in puchong.. but didnt ask much.. coz no money

new facelift think dun hv the discount.. not sure.. the discount you hv to ask the SA lorr.. try to bug him around..

the 4th gen pre-FL one i think got the discount, maybe to clear out stock.. so depends on the SA or showroom you go.. coz each maybe got different strategy.. some might give discounts on v-kool tinting.. some might give cash discounts.. so better ask the SA thoroughly.. but when u already sign the agreement and such, surely the SA's wont entertain you much




anyways... whole day went hunting for a Nighthawk Black 2003 or 2004 idsi CT... I FOUND NONE! scoured 2nd hand dealers in Selayang, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Ipoh, Batu Caves but to no avail.. called adverts in mototrader also to no avail, all sold out!!?? really damn hard to find 2nd hand black CT's !! black CT really hot stuff ah?....but the maroon, gold, silver colors bersepah!

Fasap, for buying second hand car..i think the color is not tat important lo...the most important is the car condition. Color is second concern...

Hi guys, noob here, would like to ask, how to use the steermatic function? What's the benefits?

Jerking during stop go situation, gearbox prob or another likely prob is the engine mounting. one of my engine mount have signs of slight crack liow(the mount below your battery one), theres another mount at the left side of the engine..can ask them to check for you.

steermatic function is can change gear, function i think is dat u more in control loh, it will let u drive in manual if u sien of auto, sometime. XD

aarex, if got sure good la, but my main purpose to buy a city is the idsi engine, save fuel mah. y honda wan 2 take out ah.. haihz.. i drive my uncle punya gen 3, change gear damm song..

AUX jacks are for external audio device connections.. in this case your ipod

Hmm.. like notorius said, you can get aftermarket kits for arnd rm900, arnd 2K with paint+installation, A lot more models/shapes to choose frm.. but it all comes down to your preference.. if you feel safer with original modulo kits and hv the money.. then by all means go for the ori-modulo, but if youre on a tight budget and got nothing to spare, then better get the aftermarket one to save 2-3K of your muney.. just me 2 cents.. it all up to you..

New Vios and current City?.. ofF-course if you ask here, ppl will say go for the city.. Im a Vios to City convert myself.. i thot that vios's looks were damn appealing compared to the some-what peculiar CITY design.. but i came to grow fond of it in time.. summore for the same price range of both cars

- CITY may be better technology+safety wise imho.. the base CT idsi (79K) has dual Airbags, 7speed semi-auto/steermatic, CVT, but lacks the pick-up power of the vios's VVT-i engine (88bhp compared to 1xxbhp).. but compared to a V-tec.. its another story.. summore idsi is a quite the fuel saver rite?

- The NEW Vios 1.5E real basic model (78K), only has driver air-bags, and normal 4speed auto transmission, summore same engine as previous generation vios (1NZ-FE). the looks now seem to be CITY-ish (bloating front, slender rear).. so looks factor also out you only get the real deal at the 1.5G and 1.5S which are 85K and 88K respectively.. with this you can already get a CT vtech (85K).. better p4mance, better technology... imho

FYI, i am not bashing toyota. i am just merely doing some comparison, which is biased to the CT. Goodluck on getting a new car! im just stuck with buying a 2nd CT..

Just back frm another City testdrv... I got a deal on this 2004 idsi CT, with mileage only 20,810km!! with complete honda service records (last service July 2007), smooth flawless engine, for RM57800... is this a reasonable price?? but this one silver loorrr... nice plate no too W** 9966 what you guys think??

Not bad man!!! low Mileage with complete honda service records....9966 is damn nice!!! hahaha...try to nego till 57k la..hehe! Silver is ok mah...for me, first choice is black n second is silver.

Yup.. tried to kaw-tim to 57K.. but no can do lerr.. coz the dealer said low mileage and car in damn good condition.. just minor scratches on the body and rims due to 3yrs of wear & tear.. other than that, flawless.. think im gonna go book this one fast

my choice also 1st black.. then silver.. but considering this car's mileage and condition.. hmm... then again, 2nd black CT's are too hard to find...

had great time with the steermatic function.. floored the car until reach 7speed gear.. damn nice.. woohoo.. smooth transmission all the way! CVT is damn nice! much better than my brother's vios 4speed just love the transmission w/out the occasional jerking..
