QUOTE(bigwolf @ Jun 28 2022, 02:17 AM) Knowing CCP, nothing is free. But then again, building schools (eventhough with conditions) are certainly better than say, 2000kg of freedom dropped on your house... So far we can say that about PRCBut when (and I strongly believe it's a when not an if) they do the same over Taiwan, can we still say that? |

QUOTE(bigwolf @ Jun 28 2022, 12:50 PM) I also believe there will never be a reunification- by arms or diplomacy- and Taiwan will be left alone. It's practically a nation by it's own anyways so no necessity for Taiwan to formally declare itself. I am not debating the reason, but the consequence: which seems the more pertinent question here going by the narrative that is saying of US being utter destroyers while PRC being benign builders & educators. And for China it's much more convenient to keep things status quo than disturbing the balance with say, an invasion. Why wanna end up another Russia? Unless we see Taiwan arming itself and letting its soil be staging base for foreign military pointing at China, then things might get interesting. So no, I can't answer your question now, can only see the answer if that day actually arrives Whatever it is, PRC will destroy and level to the ground a people and land, and that is suddenly ok? In fact in every term Taiwan even today are more advanced, prosperous, responsible & established than Iraq was prior to US invasion. |

QUOTE(bigwolf @ Jun 28 2022, 02:35 PM) Since when did I say it is ok for China to destroy and level to the ground a people and land? You alone say that, but I bet the majority of those here condemning US will suddenly have a whole bunch of rationalisations and apologetics for the death and destruction brought onto Taiwan (or any other place sooner or later by current PRC regime - one look at their rhetoric shows a war by PLA is coming soon)I think you're just biased against China. The narrative that is saying of US being utter destroyers while PRC being benign builders & educators IS what is being played out in Iraq right now, or are you disputing US never dropped bombs in Iraq (somemore over non-existent wmd) and PRC never build schools? Be rational and don't just fix your stand it MUST be this way no matter what. Hypothetically speaking, if tomorrow China invades Taiwan, then they are scum and deserves all the sanctions and condemnations just like Russia. But hypothetically speaking again, what if tomorrow Taiwan gets visited by US with their freedom arsenal and whole country got flattened, then PRC came in to rebuild the infra and schools, then what will you say? My stand on all superpowers is the same. They are only doing it to further their agenda. US poured billions of aid into rebuilding Europe after WW2 for their own benefit, and ensuring their industry post WW2 has space to grow, same like PRC is doing with all these construction projects today. The price will be paid for all these eventually somehow by the "benefiting" countries. |

QUOTE(bigwolf @ Jun 28 2022, 03:33 PM) I did say earlier prc not doing it for free, but building schools with conditions attached is better than 2000kg of freedom dropped on your house, no? Same as it is today, there's no good or bad superpower, just superpower doing things for their own benefit at expense of the rest of the worldIf you want to debate a hypothetical scenario that is yet to happen (if ever), i can also ask the same - what if tomorrow Taiwan gets visited by US with their freedom arsenal and whole country got flattened, then PRC came in to rebuild the infra and schools, what would be your stand on PRC then? |
