What's the difference between Lotus (and other generic storebrands) dishwash and branded dishwash such as Glo and Sunlight?

I always use Sunlight. 900ml bottle is around RM6.50 these days, 700ml refill around RM5.00.

However was flipping through The Star newspaper and saw Lotus generic 1L dishwash bottle at RM3.80. How come larger capacity but so much cheaper?

In fact, same can be seen with other household products, such as tissue box, tissue roll, kitchen roll, hand-wash. And it's the same with other supermarket chain. I see Hero Market also has its own generic detergents etc.

So my question is, why are generic products so much cheaper than branded ones? Is the quality inferior, is it made of more dangerous chemicals, etc.

Being frank, some of there cheapo ones just as thickening agent to fool user's that there's more cleaning agents because people believe thickness = concentration.

Lotus soap products mostly watered down.

I used the washing powder all the time but to get more soapy effect, need to use a lot compared to FAB or Dynamo.

Please stick with sunlight. House brand for dishwasher fluid really tak boleh. Sunlight you dilute in water still better.

Sunlight sometimes promo can be had for rm5/rm5.50. If really want cheap out. Try labor but nowadays not so cheap. Maybe rm3.x paling cheap. Used to be less than rm3 if promo. I use it to clean my kitchen floor lol.

. Most generic brand all come from well known brand manufacturers one. Woolworth Coles Costco do this all the time.

Sunlight all the way... Nothing good ever comes from "budget" or "Eco friendly"

Trash quality

Even cheapo Hilo kitchen towels feel like toilet paper

Theres lots of cheaper alternatives, but using only Sunlight "Grapefruit and Rosehip" as it's gentle on the skin. Most of the cheapo cleaner will cause problem for sensitive skins.

Lotus brand comes with the best Ride and Handling.

Oh wait....wrong Lotus.

On a serious note, I don't like Sunlight, mainly because the bottle design hard to squeeze.

Basically I use Glo for hard cleaning very oily pot, and other cheaper brand for normal washing.

Sunlight is bestest..

Nowadays I just go Eco Shop. Dishwashing brand from Gunso brand and Labour brand is good. Probably just slightly below Sunlight..

I usually stock it up because it is cheap and can use for general use. I use dishwashing to wash my car and washroom.

Diswashing liquid is one of the product that keep increasing price without control

I still remembered during 2016-2017, I can get Glo dishwashing liquid for 3:99myr and below, now increase price like mad.

Not as good in getting rid of oil stains.
But the best way to get rid of oil stain is to wash dishes in hot water.

I always use Glo.
Sunlight seems to be a bit watery, or maybe I'm wrong.

Can use something like GoodMaid. It's good enough and cheaper.

I only reserve glo for washing oily pot use for deep frying.

I've tried many dishwashing liquid brands. For me, only Glo works best. Consistent in terms of quality. Here are the tiers:

Excellent – Glo
Good– Sunlight, Giant dishwashing liquid
Mid – Joy, Axion Paste, TLC Green, Bio-Home
Worst – Zip, Labour, Lonkey, Harimau
