yes, bath room need ventilation, air circulation.
else the moisture and smell will flow in to the room.

i can see the house is rather narrow, if they put the bath and the back, then the room will have little or no window.

S0 , between the 2, i would choose the current layout which give the room more natural light and window, and the toilet to have force ventilation fan towards the roof or somewhere ba,

put in big ventitalion fan,settle.

small homes its a challenge to design with good ventilation as the space is just not big enough.

You need fresh air to vent the toilet. When the fresh air is needed, the best is to have the wall of the toilet to face outside.

Mechanical ventilation is not advisable, the best is natural ventilation. Mechanical ventilation usually will only be in used when you switch on the light. When the toilet not in use, the humidity will built up in your toilet. The ceiling in your bathroom will grow molds easily.

The best is to wall facing external . If can’t be avoided, a mechanical ventilation system need to be introduced.

Such toilet location normally have high ceiling with windows for vent. Install an exhaust fan to remove foul air and moisture.
