Been through the painful process, almost wanted to pay for those software applications that asked for developer mode access, etc. all rubbish...

Transfer from Huawei P40 to Samsung S22 Ultra, don't even need internet:

1. Backup chat history to local storage at P40 (something like ___db.crypt14)
2. Install WA in the new phone S22 (don't run)
3. Copy Database folder and Media folder inside P40 WA folder to S22 (make sure you know where is your WA folder in the new phone, can use USB pendrive)
4. Go to S22 Setting > App, look for WA, change all permission to allow (can switch back once successful)
5. Run WA in S22, go through the process of Continue, OTP, etc. once done the Restore option will appear.

Just goodwill sharing, forget all the YouTube and transfer software.

I thought can Android to Android? Anyway I transferred from Mate20Pro to S22u. It kinda screwed up my local backup and corrupted eventually.

Android to android regardless brand very easy
On old phone tap backup on whatsapp setting,
Then copy whole folder to new phone, on database folder, only keep latest file
Android 10 below folder are
Internal storage, whatsapp
Above android 11 folder are
Internal storage, android, media, com.whatsap, whatsapp
New phone install whatsapp, no need open first
Paste whole whatsapp folder, open whatsapp verify phone
There is no need change permission on app

Android phone can backup to google drive right? Unless you using mod whatsapp
