Filling up race in a government form or IC has no implications to what you can wear, where you can live or what you can eat.

Being denied a home based on skin color is akin to being denied one of the basic human rights (food, shelter and clothing).

You dont get it do you. Why do you want something that is exclusive to help one race?

If you cant buy bumi lot, no problem, buy some other place. Want good investment returns like ASB? no problem, invest some other funds.

You were not denied the opportunity to make a living or invest via other avenues.

This i agree that such race based policies has been indoctrinated from the very formation of our country, agreed by all races and their leaders back then, heck its even in the constitution. So why complain now?

To put it bluntly the difference is, those quotas and policies are "add ons" for certain race. The other minorities were not denied the basics, or at least the freedom to make a living, gain an education or work in a desired profession.

On the other hand, the minority race is being denied a place to live. When there is a 90-95% rejection rate simply because you do not fit the preferred tenant skin color, where do you go from there?

You are gravely wrong about this. The lady would have exhausted her options and resulting twitter post out of frustration, i know because i was once in the exact situation some years ago. Being a fresh grad coming out of a uni where all races lived, studied and had fun together, suddenly being told to get lost because you and i are not same anymore. Yes reality is harsh and i learned it the hard way.

I am grateful though i have had really nice chinese landlords (quite literally 1 in 20 ?) who looked past race and wanted some form of security (i.e. higher deposits, proof of employment < this is fair IMHO)

Like i said, once would never understand the prejudice and profiling that minorities go through. Being denied a place to stay is completely not the same as being denied other things such as jobs/positions/investments.

Discrimination is discrimination, but some discrimination is worse than others.
