I have booked the Corolla cross back in March 2022 and I’m still waiting for allocation. After seeing a few preliminary reviews on YouTube especially those coming from Thailand, I’m beginning to lean towards HRV e-Hev.. (FYI I’m currently driving the previous gen HRV back in 2015 when it first launch)

Can anyone here enlighten me the difference with Honda E-Hev (since it was first introduced in the new Honda city RS last year) as to compared to Toyota’s 4th gen hybrid ? Appreciate it in advance .

May I know what makes you lean towards the HRV? I am also in the same situation. Already booked the Corolla Cross Hybrid not too long ago.

Admittedly at first glance the HR-V is a looker. But the more I look at the cross, it grew on me. HR-V has a smaller boot space, lower headroom. Overall I think the Cross would feel more roomy just because of the higher roofline.

As for reliability, most would definitely agree that Toyota is king. I would also think that the toyota's hybrid system is more mature.

But I hate the ugly foot parkign brake and the cheapo infotainment in the corolla.
*
Honestly, mine is mainly on the looks. But in terms of specs wise, I could not agree with you more on the parking leg break and the so called “after market” infotainment. Even the camera (with 360 degrees view) looks hideous to my eyes. Not forgetting you have to plug ur cable (for apple CarPlay or android auto)directly into the panel itself which can be an eye sore

In terms of the active safety features, I feel that Honda sensing is a wee more matured in terms of the way it slows down and picks speed back up again on the ACC as to compared to Toyota safety sense. TSS breaks to hard and there is a lag in picking up the throttle. I have actually test drove My friend’s new Honda Civic RS using the active ACC quite a fair bit. Another let down of Cross is the leg break on the ACC.. for Honda, when u come to a halt, the car can continue to pick speed back up. For the cross, you have to start the ACC system all over again.

That all aside, I initially booked Toyota due to its reliability of the engine and the name sake. Haha

Nope. but indicative price is around 118-138k

Got also info from salesman that the preview tomorrow will be 'V' variant i.e. the highest turbo spec.

Those booked that variant can go and have a look.

Thanks for the info on the pricing. Quite surprised Honda is actually previewing the V specs instead of the RS. But having said that, it’s going to be the most hot selling variant nonetheless.

Managed to ramas the Meteorite Grey RS today. My take on the all New HRV are as follows (coming from an existing owner of the 2015 HRV V trim and have also test drove the Corolla Cross Hybrid):-

1. Build quality as an overall really improved. Despite there are still quite a few hard plastic across the interior. Buttons seems to have more textile feel and loving the physical Aircond controls (speaking of the physical Aircond control, Honda did a nice touch by putting in colour variation in the temperature dials - red for hotter and turns blue for colder). I even tried slamming both front and rear doors and I must admit that they feel more solid than the Corolla Cross. Only gripe is the exhaust pipe for the RS looks hideous where there is no garnish whatsoever. Looks cheap ..tyres are 18inch 225 50 R18 Conti

2. Space wise, somewhat feels the same as the previous HRV except for the rear. Headroom seems to have reduced due to the sloping coupe like C pillar but leg room seems to increased by a wee bit. The black head roofing tend to give a more consistent feel as the rest of the interior are black. Doesn’t feel claustrophobic. Boot space however have decreased in size from previous with no spare tire (RS version only - but given a tyre repair kit). The leather seats feels comfortable but not sure it will give sufficient bolstering while driving.

3. Tech wise, Although we are not getting the 9 inch infotainment system as per the Japan and European markets, I feel that this head unit is far more superior than the Corolla Cross. The screen is bright and responsive. USB plug points are nicely placed below the Aircond dials which gives better cable management while charging or using the apple CarPlay/android auto. Reverse camera is clear with 4 angles to choose. Too bad no 360 viewing angle. We only get Honda lane watch. The 8 build in speakers is surprisingly good. Auto window only on the driver’s side.

4. According to the SA I spoke with prices are estimated ranged from RM120k to RM140k

Sorry could not give a more in-depth observation as I only managed to view it less than 10 minutes.

I heard from proton sa, price start from 120k and push up to 150k range. like civic wow!
*
Don’t think it will be 150k for the highest trim. The civic RS is going for 144k currently. So HRV will be priced nicely below 140k mark if not it makes no marketing sense liou

Anyone can confirm whether HRV Apple
Car play is plug-in cable or wireless ? As I know, CIVIC one is wireless.
*
Both CarPlay and android auto requires cable to operate.. Unfortunately for HRV do not get the awesome looking 9” floating infotainment as u can see in the Civic RS which is compatible for wireless CarPlay. Ours is just the funny looking after market Tv box style

Meaning? When can get car then
*
Usually in my experience, once the chassis number allocated, it will take 1-2weeks for arrival of the car physically to the showroom.

Been seeing quite a few people collecting their cars already. I wonder when they placed booking

Before Honda officiates the booking in June, I heard some SA are collecting booking for the HRV as early April/May.
