 Wta: apm branded alternator good?

APM branded alternator good?

As per title, is APM brand alternator any good?

Waifu's myvi show battery sign today. Seems intermittent but i dun wanna risk it, so thinking of changing to apm brand.
was quoted following price by my mechanic
OEM: 350.
RECOND : 250
APM: 480
BOSCH:600

Ok. Many CKD cars use APM. Honda also.

If alternator ori. Go repair 1st. Change carbon and bearing. Ori alternator very lasting.

Tukar jer carbon and bearing. Then clean it up.
Usually alternator won't easily rosak la. If got money to splurge get borch

APM actually not bad

but alternator is really one of the most important part in car, especially if you have electric power steering

imaging loosing control of steering when alternator kong during driving on highway

Bro. Ur question pun tarak head and tail. Car wat year? U stay which area. How to recommend bro. If ur myvi is 2nd gen, try repair 1st,many kedai will ask u change bcuz they wan the Ori alternator, got value. An honest tauke told me mia,so I repair. Already 3 years still running good.

You can service it. Alternator is a fairly simple item.
As such, APM brand should be fine.
His quote seems abit high. You go look online and compare lah.

If it were me, I'd go with original Denso brand. Bosch these days also made locally, no better than any other OEM.

Kwong Weng, nearby aeon big kepong
Serviced starter a few years ago at this shop a few years ago. No issues until now.

Check out the workshop, they specialized in servicing alternator

Dunno why you plan to change to new unit when the existing unit just need a change of carbon brushes and shaft bearings, for a fraction of a new unit.

Mine been running for 500k km and still ori factory unit, only changed items above at 330k km. 170k km since refurb/recond/service (whatever you want to call it) and still strong.

How much u recond ur alternator?

If got trusted mechanic okla, but in certain town i asked around, so far couldn't find workshop that refurbish alternator, i guess mostly wana earn fast money
