by right, all renovation works need a permit / approval from the council whether it is minor or major... it is already stated in the street, drainage & building act - Sec.70...

It's either call it as 'permit kerja-kerja kecil' or 'permit meletak bahan binaan' depending on which council area you are referring to..

plus, you don't know what kind of neighbour you are going to live with ... they might complain to the council later and you can get some compound from it..

so it is advisable for you to get permit from the council..

if under majlis shah alam, additional awning needs to submit a plan for approval
