for those units that already comes with full bathroom fittings... what kind of water heater do people normally purchase??

Do they still purchase the normal instant water heater???

If the bathroom already comes with all the fittings.. for example below...

using instant water heater would make these fittings not usable since adjusting cold and hot water is via the heater knob or whatever control on the heater itself.... how do I get the heater to work with the preinstalled fittings?? hmm.gif

It can be done but you need an experienced plumber to locate the piping.

When I took over a subsale house, I removed the faulty tank heater and replace with an instant heater using the existing wall mixer.

Just be informed that an instant water heater (the usual wall mounted kind) cannot have a tap or shut-off valve or any type of restriction at the hot water outlet pipe.

I'm curious to know why you don't want a storage water heater when you already have all the plumbing installed. Perhaps if you verbalised that, someone can give you better advice? It looks like I've read your initial post wrong.

For your case, where all the plumbing is already done for hot and cold water, you'll need to install a storage water heater. In M'sia, electrical types are the usual ones installed. Example would be this.

There is also instant water heaters for the whole house, which don't have tanks, widely used for example in USA. Online sellers do list them also, but I have never seen them being used here. Here is an example

I don't want storage water heater.... long run electrical bill is expensive...

I do plan to get the 2nd option... which is the tankless water heater.... I saw Joven has it in their MY website... Panasonic has it for their philipine site but not MY....

seems that it is not very popular in Malaysia for multi point tankless water heater.... not sure where can I buy it...

I don't want to get it from shoppee though... prefer to get it from either from the manufacturer or physical store... I need them to install it cause I dunno much about plumbing...

So you are correct in choosing the Joven multi point heaters, either model MP720 or MP960.

What you have to look out with these 2 models is the maximum power consumption, which is 7200 W and 9600 W respectively. That's a amperage draw of 30 A or 40 A respectively. Since most storage water heaters are assumed to be under 5000 W, the wiring size installed in your place should be 4 mm² (because they expect you to install a storage water heater). The MP720 at 30 A will require 6 mm² wiring, or the MP960 will require 10 mm² wire sizes. Just make sure you have that so that you may safely install the Joven multi point water heaters.

The sh*pee ones are all natural gas water heaters from what I have noticed.

Edit : A lot of my customers make sure they only turn ON the water heaters when they want to use hot water, as it takes about 20 - 30 minutes to heat up. Some install a timer to turn ON automatically at the usual times they will be using hot water, usually mornings and evenings only, to save power consumption. You could try that.

Yes. This is for tanked/storage water heater only

Yes, multi point works like an instant water heater. Instant hot water, doesn't run out like a tanked/storage water heater, but it takes more power instantaneously.

You will have to physically check. Look at the wires where the water heater is supposed to be installed, or open the DB and see at the actual MCB, or open the switch for the water heater.

Edit to add : Then, based on the size of the wires, you can choose what the highest wattage of water heater you can install

Mixers are usually more suitable for storage water heater, or high kW multipoint instant water heaters.

The highest powered instant water heater in Malaysia is CENTON (I think it is called Forza Series) and BEEBEST, both are around 7.x kW range and copper heating tank (important for high water pressure bathroom, eg. those that has external water pump).

If 7.x kW range is too high for u, u can go for 5.x kW range such as CENTON Serene Highlands and JOVEN MP Series.

All of these recommendations can be easily found on Shopee.
