Their test so difficult....... puke.gif

Turing ask about binary tree and must answer within 60 minute in their test, i was completely caught flat footed because i learned about binary tree and never revise, so far never used in any jobs either.

Toptal was a bit better, but still difficult.

Freelancer i had a look and realise you are most likely going to be lowballed by indians/pakistanis/ukrainians

Anyone of you ever made a success out of these 3 platforms?

Toptal: Didn't hear it before.

Turing: I took their test (C#, 40 questions if not mistaken) and passed, but never had the gut to solve their coding challenge online. (Turing is hiring remote workers to work with companies in Silicon Valley)

Freelancer.com: Didn't succeed except their online contest:

Examples:
QUOTE
Creative new company name
by seindjat$505 USD

Come up with a name - 03/06/2022 20:39 EDT
by lstanza$79 USD

Business Name Arabic/English
by alomair

I helped inventing a new name and won EUR 4.50 (too little, I know). Also earned USD 1 for giving consultation to a person from South Asia.
Freelancer.com needs membership fee (or else it is very limited), what I earned not even enough to pay for it.

Upwork: Succeeded in creating a profile, but I deleted my account afterward.
(It is very difficult, from what I heard, to have our profiles approved)

TS, did you try Fiverr, selling your skill on that platform is easy, no membership whatsoever. I posted one yesterday. You can choose web / mobile /desktop development, it even let you to categorize your pricing, like Basic, Standard ,Premium (can't remember the exact phrase).

I asked a video streaming place that I interviewed at before, on the relevancy of their interview questions to the actual work that is done, and they could not answer.

Some ppl were shocked that I actually asked such a question, but my response was, at the seniority level that the interview was for, are such question not expected to be asked in return?

Some company may say those algorithm challenges are to gauge your aptitude skills etc.

However, in my opinion, it’s kinda wasting time if the test is for mid-senior level engineers. In fact, the ability to learn-> understand-> implement, current skillsets and project experience are their best assets at that level. Seen a junior excels at algorithm challenges (online platform), was found memory leak issue (sometimes people don’t know what they don’t know, an honest mistake, can’t blame them for that) and writing spaghetti code during code review.

By the way, is the video streaming company with a name starts with G, and at Bangsar South? Hahaha

I think upwork is not difficult to getting approve if you are a programmer / software engineer. I already tried and already approved
