Current circumstance need me to change broadband service. I was wondering if makes much of difference as to which provider I pick. The prices across most providers seem to be more or less the same, so I don't think price would be much of issue here. I able to subscribe to Maxis, Digi, Unifi and Astro.

Are there any other things I should consider, ie. customer/technical service quality/response time, frequent disruptions or anything else? From what I heard, if its piggybacking from Unifi (Maxis, Digi) the response time is much longer compared to Unfi.

FYI, I am currently on the old Astro IPTV which uses Maxis via Unifi. Never had any issue needing to call customer service, so I don't have a comparison view on the above factors. I am in a landed property, so TIME is out of the question.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

Try Celcom or DiGi Home Fibre for a change.

Don't ever touch Unifi. Their billing is one of the messiest and complicated one. Other ISPs can summarize everything in under 2 pages, theirs need few pages just for even their simple Streamyx (Unifi Lite) plan.

Then you even even heard some can get 800Mbps plan below RM150 and different sort of offers elsewhere.

Not much difference actually. As for technical support, as long as it is using Unifi infra then the existing provider will have to deal with TM contractor and it may take slightly longer time depend on the personnel in your area. For example, for my recent case, Digi fibre and TM team came in about 2 working days time which is acceptable.

But then come to think of it, how many times can your cable break or your modem spoilt in a year? Those are negligible, so just pick your choice of provider.

my experience with TM-MAXIS fiber...

TM Technician only handle fiber and ONU, mean while
Maxis Technician only Router and VoIP

Fiber and ONU are very durable to begin with, no need to worry about it (unless electric not perfect or lightning storm)

Maxis also have internet down notification via SMS, I got this message when changing stock router to Mikrotik
