I'm going to replace cmos battery in my laptop and thus looking for online, i realised the price gap is huge, from RM2, RM6 to RM25 for exactly same products. When i ask price from physical shop, they are selling RM30. rclxub.gif

My question is why is the price so much difference? Anything i should be aware of, which should i buy bangwall.gif

None. They're all the same. It's such an old thing. They might be some quality differences, but nothing that warrants such high price. Even RM 6.30 is expensive if you're looking just for the battery.

If you need the cable and particular connector for a laptop, 6.30 is okay. You might be looking at China seller vs local seller differences.

This is like Nasi lemak road stall vs nasi lemak 5 star hotel.

This one is not a good comparison. There are road stall nasi lemak better than 5 star hotel. Like Brothers Nasi Lemak at behind Holiday Inn Express (was Menara ING), KL is one of them.

AVF vs Seasonic power supply is one of the example.

You're right. That was rude of me. I'll try to visit it if I have the chance.

They are open only at weekdays, 7.30-8.30am. Very short business hours due to high demand. Its the only stall with long queue.

Most of the time high price or above average is high or good quality. But this battery, even though we call it CMOS battery, there's a lot of other equipment that use it. It has reached its peak performance design. You no longer see those AA/AAA battery advertisement, because there's not much too improve without raising the cost significantly.

Even a BMW key use this battery. And you know what repair shop charges to replace this battery? Hundreds to replace a few ringgit battery. Labor cost aside, and the fact that most BMW key is glued together instead of using screw, hundreds of RM to replace this less than RM 2 battery.

Buy Maxell ones. Or made in Japan ones. Dont buy Panasonic , those are made in Indonesia.

If its for laptop , then u dont have of a choice. But 6 bucks is okay for me. Not more than that

All, same. The one trying to sell you RM30 is trying to scam you! If you wish to buy from physical shop just go get them at Mr. DIY for their best price.

if you still have the original CMOS battery with charge depleted , open up the plastic and replace with new CE2032 batt yourself. use tape to warp it back,
tada! DIY and cheap, lol

The Malaysian standard, where PC shops hope to price gouge you if you know nothing

Personally I think tinytech is also a bit expensive sometimes

Just look for generic unbranded ones.
