Singapore and South Korea recently received briefings on upgrades for their F15Sg (already 4.5 gen) and f15k (4th gen) combat aircraft to the F15EX standard.
South Korea has begun the upgrading works: https://thedefensepost.com/2024/03/27/south...f-15k-upgrades/ ![]() This post has been edited by Mai189: Sep 10 2024, 12:29 PM |

Recently, a Singapore Himars (ID: 21641MID) was featured in a Lockheed Martin Video on the Precision Strike Missile (PRsM). The PRsM is slated to replace and has the same impact as the 300km MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS). A single Himars can carry 2 PRsM as compared to one ATACMs. This is a heavy missile comparable to the Russian Iskandar Complex missile. The PRSM has a range in excess of 650km: https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/2022/0...rmation-update/

However, the vehicle ID was apparently redacted/blurred after this was discovered. Resembles an ATACMs missile too though it is more likely PRSM missile which is the successor to ATACMs. Both missiles will be in used by users for quite some time though. They are short range precision ballistic missiles.

Most defence budgets are slowly inching up the world over tnough they are tempered by budget deficits if any. The only ASEAN countries that generally have budget surpluses are Sg and i think Bruneu(?).
We will get a better idea of ASEANs defence budgets in the months 2 come as it depends on each countrys budget day. Indo is the first i think. |

Tell that to the Israeli "city boys" soldiers. Not even the "manly" Arab or Iranian soldiers want to cross them. Or the "pokemon" Japanese forces.
Jokes aside, the majority of Sg forces are NUS/NTU/SMU etc. degree holders or soon to be degree holders - be they regular forces or NS active or reserve forces. We are talking about world class educational institutions. Pound for pound they are the smartest armed forces in the world apart from the Israelis. I will leave it 2 you to think about the implications on the 21st century battlefield. See what Sg has achieved thus far with no resources...and you want to test them militarily. PRsM missile successfully tested against moving target and its effective range will soon exceed 650km:
https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/2024/0...kex-using-prsm/ How the gigantic short range ballistic missile strikes moving targets is via a combination and coordination of sensor nodes (something Sg has invested a lot in i.e. network centric warfare) ![]() This post has been edited by Mai189: Sep 14 2024, 12:13 PM |

QUOTE(Mai189 @ Sep 12 2024, 10:45 AM) ^ Simultaneous firing of Aster missiles from RSS Stalwart, a Formidable class frigate, at Rimpac 2024. Asters are meant for saturation attacks. With the advent of the MRCV, Sg will have at least 12 frigates and heavy frigates/destroyers with large/theatre maritime air area defence (Aster 30 Blk 1 NT has a range bubble of >150km). Useful for FPDA or joint ASEAN naval task force in case of emergencies. ^Nice video footage of a Formidable class ship aka "pocket" destroyer This post has been edited by Mai189: Sep 14 2024, 11:35 PM |
