QUOTE About Anti-Air Missiles , it's is not yet unknown which type of SAM will be install on the ships. But many said that it will be the South Korean made LIG Nex1 K-SAAM ( Hae-gung ) which will be quadpack in a single VLS cells , RMN LMS Batch 2 as shown in the infographic - will armed with 16 Surface to Air Missiles , other option is MBDA CAMM ( Sea Ceptor ) which also have quadpack capabilities. VL-MICA probably out the options as it cannot be quadpack in single VLS cells due to it size. It's is now confirmed that RMN LMS Batch 2 will be armed with Roketsan Atmaca Anti Ship Missiles. Many were expected that LMS Batch 2 will be armed with Naval Strike Missile like the Maharajalela-Class Littoral Combat Ship. For guns , RMN LMS Batch 2 will be fitted with 76mm Naval Gun , it is unknown wether it will be from Oto Melara or from MKEK. Other weapon is 30mm ASELSAN SMASH Remote Control Weapons Station ( RCWS ) , the same weapon fitted on Malaysia Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Vessels. As previously stated by Ex Malaysia Minister Of Defence , Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Hasan in a Parliament earlier last year , LMS Batch 2 will not have Anti Submarines Warfare capabilities meaning it will not have sonar or equip with torpedo. |

QUOTE Congratulations Malaysia. Malaysia is likely to have this state-of-the-art missile faster than the Philippines. ● Dual seeker. ● Quad-Pack. ● Purposes of replace the RAM. ● Similar size to VL-MICA. ● No need of Illuminator. ● Easy integration with others(ACS) and independent operating system. The Peru, Peruvian Navy also expected to be purchase the SAAM, C-Star missile and Blueshark torpedo. And again, the LIG Nex1 earning huge money in a short period of time. Around $9.2 billion was signed in just 1~2 years from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Iraq. And now Malaysia's SAAM. Don't forget that the LIG Nex1 participated in the Malaysia's SAM acquisition program as their M-SAM-II air and ballistic missile interceptor. chaosneo liked this post

QUOTE KDDX is now facing political problems. Two mega class shipbuilders of ROK Navy, the Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hanwha Ocean(former DSME) currently escalating their political conflicts. Since the KDDX is contained all Koreans core technologies(from small semiconductor to large radar array) and the largest program to ROK Navy, the conflict was easily expected. However, shortly after Hyundai barely got the contract, Hyundai was accused of stealing data from Hanwha and the Navy and received a deduction for future naval programs(Hyundai lost in FFX-III business because of that). The problem is that Hyundai is still bidding on KDDX, and Hanwha has been accusing and suing for years. Each refusing to back down, each convinced it was in the right. Although the Hanwha completed the KDDX's conceptual design, the Hyundai completed the KDDX's basic design so that actually made the Hyundai as winner. Hyundai currently building a huge KDX-III Batch-II Aegis destroyer so the government, Navy, DARPA likely to allow the Hyundai to build the KDDX first to prevent the confusion. We expect both sides to build six KDDX by half rate if we accept both sides' opinions. Korean institute, companies, research centers and ROK Navy expects perfect results. All other priorities are secondary to KDDX program for now. No other solution is tolerable. Funny enough, Hanwha Ocean and Hyundai Heavy Industries each launched their own businesses in U.S. Navy MRO markets and Australia's frigate program. |
