QUOTE(sbd @ Jun 1 2022, 11:04 PM)
I am a little bit unclear about Yoodo:

Can I just subscribe to the 4,000 mins plan @ rm12/mo without anything else? That means each month I spend only rm12 per month for 4,000 mins every month. What about the validity. And is there any basic free internet? Does each purchase of 4,000 mins get you 30 days airtime credit? What's the catch here? I wished they offered a annual prepaid plan for rm144 for 12 months validity and each month you get 4,000 minutes. So much trouble remembering the date and remembering to top up and subscribe...
*
A1) Can only subscribe to RM12/4,000 minutes for 30 days. No need to buy anything else.

A2) Yoodo does not have validity. All reload is usable as and when needed. But, the Grace Period is 60 days. if no subscription is active.

A3) 64kbps free Basic Internet if for data quota only. If we subscribe only to RM12/4,000 minutes for 30 days, the rest of the 30 days does not have any Internet at all.

A4) There is no "detrimental" hidden agenda. The major issue with Yoodo is after-sales support. There is no hotline number. All supports is using keyboard only. So, if we email them for assistance, we have to wait and wait and wait and wait and wait for their reply thru email as well.

A5) No need to reload RM144. The default setting for each plan is Auto Renewal. But the drawback is any excess usage will be auto-charge to our credit card linked to the Yoodo account. We might get Bill Shock if not careful.

For A4, it is faster to use their online chat in the website, which is open daily.

For A5, it is avoidable by not linking our credit card to the Yoodo account. Each time just reload any amount using online banking. For example you reload RM144, let it run for 12 months. Can also turn off auto renewal if you wish to buy the call plan yourself.

I believe if you reload 144 (meant for 1 year), according to azahar's warning, you may be charged for something outside your rm12 plan such as international call, sms, data etc. If you subscribe the 1st month, your account will still have rm132 credit which can be 'accidentally' used for purposes other than the rm12 plan. I hope my understanding is correct.

edit: maybe I am mistaken, yoodo does not seem to have a wallet or top-up system. it relies on a direct transaction to purchase a plan...

So far I do not have such problem. Reloaded like RM60 to the Yoodo wallet and buy the call plans as needed. The 4000 minutes cannot be use for international calls, likewise, no SMS can be perform if you do not buy any SMS plan.
Yoodo does uses wallet, whereby you can reload x amount and uy your desire call, data, and SMS plan.

Me anti-keyboard after sales support. Things that can be solved within 5 minutes thru calls only. Using keyboard for communication is waste of time.

Calls = 5 minutes
Keyboard = 15 minutes. Need to wait the CS to Type...type...type...type...type... lepas tuh, got disconnected... kena type all over again....LOL...

Whoa, it appears if you sign up for the the call plan, say rm12 for 4,000 mins, you will have no data at all, not even basic data. Am I correct?

Yes. The 64kbps is only when the purchased data quota has depleted. So, RM12 + RM12 (2GB quota) is the lowest if need that 64kbps Basic Internet quota.

Alternatively,

SIM1 = P1 webe #BEBAS = RM10 starter pack

SIM2 = Yoodo = RM12

Nowadays you call also need to wait more than 15 minutes, sometimes more. Nobody will answer call and settle within 5 minutes. Digi Celcom all the same thing.

Yes, that's what it is. You buy only what you need. This thread is talking about landline replacement, so I suppose data is not important.

So if one were to follow the example above of sim1 and sim2, the unifi bebas even 1 or 2 gig data will set you back additional rm13 to rm15. If some data is a must, then the best solution would be U's prepaid 25 for rm20 per month, don't you think so? Both data and calls settled in one solution. I do realise that this tread is for landline replacement, sorry.

P1 webe #BEBAS starter pack is RM10/3GB can last for more than 5 years if using it as in 64kbps approach....no need to reload every month...Alternatively, Hotlink Panta* with RM40/year is also a viable combo with Yoodo RM12/month...

Your Hotlink solution is for people with a lot of time on their hands. For me, even the B1 process of topping up 10 bucks every month and then subscribing to the unlimited call plan is too tedious. B1 would be a winner in my books if they offered a annual version of the same plan for 120 bucks. Why can't they see the success of innovative products? Looks like prepaid users need to be on their toes all the time to keep enjoying the perks.

64kbps may be too slow for navigation and any form of browsing. I have 3 spare lines that need a 'home' (they are presently with XOX, B1) I think I will change to Yoodo for the one that only needs calls; 2nd one that requires data, I will switch to U prepaid for rm20 and the 3rd one in a tablet (don't need calls or data), I will switch to Unifi bebas. So for 3 lines, these will cost me about rm40 per month on average. OK for me.

If me, just get the HUP35 + RM5 for 50GB hotspot-able @ 3Mbps. The other 2 devices just wireless tethering to this HUP35...no headaches to manage 3 different telcos/plans...

One sim is an office line replacement
2nd sim is my wife's
3rd sim is on my tablet for number parking.

Sim 1 and 2 need to make their own calls and sim2 needs data.

That's why I figured it was a bit complicated.

Since this thread is focusing on land line replacement, me'd just comment on it.

sbd, office/home land line phone should be under Yoodo (SIM2) RM12/4,000 minutes paired with P1 webe #BEBAS (SIM1) for 64kbps access.

Leave the Yoodo default payment to auto-renew the RM12 plan thru credit card (if u hv any). Else, renew manually every month.

P1 webe #BEBAS has 90 days SIM/Account/Line validity and no need to reload at all. Use the data every day and the 90 days will be reset every day.
