E8400 vs Q6600

both are great..and perform in different condition/task at stock speed..

but quad more advantages 

if u plan just for better gaming, surf, movie,save more watt..i recommend u e8400 if got stock

but in my shoes, i do encoding, video editing, rendering, and gaming of course..so, quad is my choice

if i dont do this video job thingy..i'd rather buy E8400..its 45nm

my friend is using q9300 on gigabyte p35 dq6 and he said no problem so far.. he is doing 3dmax rendering and gaming a lot with the pc...

hehe..i bought the QX9650 . price is rm3550 .. tat guy discount rm100 for me....but i feel that the performance still like normal...nothing special woo..

What is the price of Q9300 in LYP now...???

No. Its socket 775 and you can use it with any Socket 775 mobo that supports 45nm

Aww man I dont know if I should get the Q6700 now sobs... Since I using 680i mobo, max i can go for a Quad core is 65nm (or 45nm Dual)...

Or i could wait for the August or Dec price revision and hope the QX6850 loses its 'X' pricing... but there's a risk that 65nm quads may be discontinued entirely :'(

Well since its my last upgrade path (stupid Nvidia, was eyeing 45nm Quads when i purchased the system ) before Nehalem, why not? I plan in using this rig for at least 4-5 years... sure by then it'll b slow as a snail, but at least it will withstand the multi-core era a little (12 core AMDs T_T ). I wouldnt mind later Quad Celerons or Pentium Qs (maybe?) as well if they were 65nm, but I doubt that would b the case.

P.S I payed 1.1k for the E6700 back then, right after the price drop from Rm2k... back then it was a bargain... then the E6750 appeared...  

I'm not planning to OC, that's why I wanted Q9450 with its low power consumption and heat.

I wonder if the features of Q9450 will be used at the time being.. or Q6700 is good enough for 4-5 years ahead?

Haha it's hardly worth it to use a Q6600 for a BT rig. Just get an old PC or a dedicated device la.

I'm using a QNAP NAS with BT function built in. Not bad..
