I still think the Q6600 G0 is a better buy. At least at this point in time. Penryn's version could be out any time and its features could be very attractive. But the market seems to be manipulating its prices due to scarce quantity due to the recent introduction. For that is going to change in the matter of a few weeks. Remember that the Q6600 is already a good performer in both stock and OC ratings, the Penryns are going to define the line better, not redefining as in a record boost in performance. Penryn maybe 45nm but it will take further steppings for Intel to really tweak this new fabrication technology. So better products will likely come out again.
So I would say go for the availability and the price. If this fits into your budget and requirements, then the choice is clear. Q6600 or Penryn, it doesn't matter because you'll be very happy with both. Thats because both are good performers. |
