Aww man I dont know if I should get the Q6700 now sobs... Since I using 680i mobo, max i can go for a Quad core is 65nm (or 45nm Dual)...

Or i could wait for the August or Dec price revision and hope the QX6850 loses its 'X' pricing... but there's a risk that 65nm quads may be discontinued entirely :'(

blink.gif why u need the Quadcore? u already have 3.0 already more than enough....... and no way u going to buy the Qx6800 end of the year ...because all new replacement coming out hahah just my  pov  smile.gif
*
Well since its my last upgrade path (stupid Nvidia, was eyeing 45nm Quads when i purchased the system vmad.gif ) before Nehalem, why not? I plan in using this rig for at least 4-5 years... sure by then it'll b slow as a snail, but at least it will withstand the multi-core era a little (12 core AMDs T_T ). I wouldnt mind later Quad Celerons or Pentium Qs (maybe?) as well if they were 65nm, but I doubt that would b the case.

Yeah i know Q6850 would be a longshot >_<" thats y looking at Q6700.. cry.gif

Ahh its inevitable that my bank account runs dry. doh.gif

P.S I payed 1.1k for the E6700 back then, right after the price drop from Rm2k... back then it was a bargain... then the E6750 appeared... rclxub.gif shakehead.gif

the question is will it be cheap-ER or discontinued? haha.... the E6700 dilemma is painful enough for me... if possible wanna minimise the next hit. tongue.gif

yeah I do some video rendering on Edius 3 which only use two cores... but wont hurt to have more for multi tasking purposes..
(My office Workstation on a Q6600 uses two cores for rendering (Edius), one for DVD Workshop, and one for burning... all in a tiny Shuttle XPC.... sigh)

Doesn't matter anyway.. 45nm or 65nm, duo or quad, xeon or core 2 or Pentium D, majority of sales are still Intel.... its still their stuff although they are competing with themselves most of the time...

there is such thing as a crowding strategy where u fill as many products as possible at as many price points and segments as possible. The market will b so crowded that the competitor wont have space to fit into it comfortably as every one of their product would each have Multiple competition.

Scenario: At any price point, Consumers would have to choose between Intel, AMD, Intel, Intel, and Intel. 4/5 chance it would be Intel.

Perhaps at the same time Intel also gains more visibility space on price lists.

I see that Q9450 appears in the pricelist of a few shops in LYP, but it does not seem that anyone of them really have them in hand or are they keeping it?

Czone's pricelist seem to have the Xeon 3550, a Q9450 equivalent... plan 2 go check it out soon... cool2.gif
dumped the Q6700 idea... plan 2 get rid of the disappointing mobo as well for a P35... (or P45 if i presevere)

With the price of P35 nowadays are pretty cheap, RM300-400 and u'll get a good one, so its sometimes worth it to give up the older mobo for 45nm support. (assuming ur not talking about high end ones like DQ6).

Issue with changing mobo tho is when ur OS is OEM (Original)... u may have to get another one for the new board.. tongue.gif

i guess so... i was hoping it would go slightly higher than ur average q9450 coz of its ability to undervolt.... but doesnt seem to be the case.. willing to spend a hundred or so bucks more coz of that.

by the way i read somewhere that the new baatch of Q6600 are capped...
