I'm currently eyeing on a used car from a used car dealership. It's my first time buying a car and would be really grateful if members can help in explaining the procedure by buying from dealership.

1. I'd want to do a pre-purchase inspection with independent mechanic. Would dealer normally allow this in Malaysia? If yes, how's the procedure typically like? Deposit required?

2. What's the market rate for all the fees other than car price? (i.e. agreement fees, thumbprint fee, transaction fee, etc?) What are the other fees expected from dealer?

3. Is there any fees that shall be typically borne by dealer when a deal is made?

4. Is it standard practice to purchase insurance through the car dealership?

5. Lastly, any review or feedback from Instant Portfolio Sdn Bhd at OKR AUTO CITY Old Klang Road?

Was quoted RM3,500 for all the processing fee for a RM31k car. Is it standard?

And will require RM1,000 booking fee for pre-sales inspection. Pre-sales inspection (by my mechanic) RM120.

Did the car dealer ask for booking fee before you can get it for pre-sales inspection? Was told if there's issue with pre-sales inspection will refund fully the booking fee.
