Instead of thinking what style or trend to follow ask your self the basic important question first. What type of client business is asking for a logo, what are their business related to and what problem they are facing.

A lot of "designer" out there try to make a fancy logo w/o properly understanding what is the problem they are suppose to solve and end up with a design that satisfy the client but not their business.

Designer's job is to solve problem ..... like doctor.
