I'm using Android. WhatsApp chat backup says it's uploading 1GB of data. My internet is 30Mbps data plan.
3 hours has passed and the upload is only 35%.
Is this normal?

I also have that issue recently. My whatsapp backup is only 1GB too but my phone is an old phone Samsung A6 Plus (2018). Maybe because of the old android model? Not sure! But I hope someone can help?

Based on reddit, it seems this is a bug that is quite common. Nothing we can do here.

Tried today on 100Mbps download 50Mbps upload connection. Backup is still broken. It goes extremely fast to 8% and just stop there. F.

Rekomen to do local backup
Then open g.drive
Browse to whatsapp\backup folder n select latest backup
Upload
This is 50x more faster

It has nothing to do with that.
I've tried on other networks with extremely fast internet. It's the same. It goes super fast, then it will just pause. If I stop it can start the backup again, it will continue, then pause.

It uploads about 70MB at a time, then pause, and proceed with super slow speed. 1 back up can take more than a day, although it's just 1GB of upload.

I don't understand. U mean manually copy the folders to the pc and copy the folders to the phone in future?
How does that have any effect on Gdrive backup?

Mine is not that slow.

Settings for chat backup > Backup to Google drive > Only when I tap backup.

That's backup to phone local storage (no internet involved).

no idea why whatsap never allow us to reduce auto daily backup
it keep 8 days backup on local storage, fle too big, easy over GB size if never clean chat

no way, no such setting to turn off

I just try not to back anything up. I've given up on trying to keep everything. I just start over every time. Don't mean to dismiss your concern, just hoping to give you a possible way to think outside the box. I just set my settings so that it doesn't do a back up.
