What! is no one watching this AWESOME anime?

Set in feudal Japan. Mononoke shows how the Medicine Seller combats more spirits or "Mononoke" (a type of yōkai) using his wares. Just like in the Bakeneko story, he counts with a series of tools and his vast knowledge of the supernatural on his side, but only can release the sword that exorcises the Mononoke when he uncovers its shape (Katachi), and the truth (Makoto) and reasoning (Kotowari) behind its appearance.

i understand the anime is a bit on the artsy side, but hey! give it a try and i'll bet you'll love it! definitely one of the more unique anime i've ever watched, alongside Dennou Coil.

Here's the 1st 8 minutes of the 1st episode , just to whet your appetite.

Here's the ending song:

I understand there will be both haters and lovers, as it's hard to stand in the middle when presented with an anime style so drastic and yet so beautiful , and yet so grotesque, as this.

if anyone is watching , though , can you fill me in on :

ya , this is like ayakashi. The medicine seller from the Baka Neko , actually.

But this is slightly different. It's not so horrific and scary as Ayakashi, but instead it's more of a visual feast. The story is more like CSI , with investigative leads as the medicine seller tries to uncover the truth behind the mononoke's Truth, Shape and Regret.

Zashiki-warashi (座敷童子)

* Episodes: 1-2

While spending the night in a traditional inn, the Medicine Seller stumbles upon a strange phenomena involving a western pregnant woman who desperately sought for shelter there, and the assassin hired to dispose of her, who was mysteriously killed in a gruesome way.

Umibouzu (海坊主)

Traveling on a merchant's luxurious ship, the Medicine Seller and the ship's other passengers end up stranded in the middle of a sea full with ayakashi. Among the passengers, the medicine seller have another encounter with Kayo, who helped him on his confrontation with the Bakeneko.

* Episodes 3-5

Nopperabou (のっぺらぼう)

Suspicious of an odd case of homicide, the Medicine Seller interrogates the murderer facing her execution, believing her to have fallen under influence from a mononoke.

* Episodes 6-7

Nue (鵺)

Attending an incense meeting, the Medicine Seller and three other men compete to take the hand of the noblewomen, Ruri-hime. Strangely, when Ruri-hime and other residents within the mansion are murdered, three men continue to fight over the "Todaiji", raising the Medicine Seller's attention.

* Episodes 8-9

Bakeneko (化猫)

Set in a time period decidedly later than the previous arcs -implied to be at least the late 1880s- the Medicine Seller boards a train with several characters similar to the first Bakeneko story (whom might be possible reincarnations of their former counterparts). When the train crashes into a girl on the tracks, they are all gathered together in one cart which mysteriously moves by itself.

* Episodes 10-

i suggest you can skip Nopperabou , as it's not overtly exciting. But the story and way the medicine seller drags the Truth out is pretty cool.

But in Nopperabou is where he didnt manage to get the Katachi 1st, and go for Makoto and Kotowari 1st instead
*I believe you mean drag the 'form' out
Because he finally manage to see the power of the sword unleashed 1st hand?
*
ahh ... i see. lemme rewatch it again. i seriously didnt pay attention to the samurai because the story shifted to the monk immediately.
