Used to be Avast user until it pissed me off with their pop up ads. Have been using Windows Defender since then.

Personally for me
Want free and just works? Windows Defender.
If want a bit extra, can pair Malwarebytes with Windows Defender.

If you must get an Antivirus, personally I would install Bitdefender or Kaspersky free tier

I just use the build in Windows Defender. If not mistaken, this software automatically active by default and it will disabled itself when other antivirus detected.

Yes, me too. Some files could not be downloaded because of suspected virus.

I write small programs myself, so it is annoying Windows Defender keeps deleting my programs although they are not virus.
