Anyone know a good and reasonably priced raincoat? Im using Arai raincoat i bought at local bengkel for rm 80. Its really heavy and hot, even in rain my armpit got smelly and i hate it as i could feel the steam inside, i want something cooler. water could seep through the middle zipper. Now after 1 year, the waterproofing layer got tear already. Maybe i should skip the raincoat and just get a waterproof jacket?

Any recommendation?

Malaysia is too humid for me to wear anything waterproof for long without sweating. I normally go for jackets with gore-tex for the super lebat rainstorms. For every day carry, I have an ultra-light jacket that folds really well in my bag for emergencies.

The ultra light jacket can get saturated in heavy rain and penetrate the fabric, making it uncomfortable.
Gore-tex jackets can get pricey, but I snagged mine off AliExpress on 11.11 for a good price.

I use Givi raincoat. It has the vent at the back but doesn't make a difference. I usually just carry it along but too lazy to stop and put it on

Just get a cheap raincoat from Decathlon. Cheap waterproofing is usually done by having a chemical coating that wears out over time, so you will have to keep buying new one when the time comes. Waterproof gears really can't be that breathable, which is logical given that it has to block water from seeping in. Even the most breathable (and expensive) Gore-Tex is only relatively breathable compared to other waterproof gears, it still isn't gonna feel like wearing a T-shirt, so I am afraid you'll have to bear with it.

I'm using those meant for hiking / outdoor.

Light weight
But not cheap.

If not.
I'll just remove everything and put it into a plastic bag. Just ride in the rain. And keep my clothes dry.

Am i the only one that ride wothout raincoat? I mean pn a long journey its too heavy to carry and its consume loads of my bag space.

I just end up riding without one. If its rain heavily, i just stop, if its just a drizzle, i’ll ride regardless. Sure my pants are going to be wet but by the power of the engine heat, it’ll dried out in a matter of minutes.

I only use it on my way to work

Going home time, who cares.. just ride home in the rain. Heavy rain, who cares I still ride home.

I have a benkia premium 2 pcs rain suit. Relatively lightweight and more importantly, in fluorescent yellow/green. Has a huge vent behind. Normally sold for 230, but I got it in sale for 180 at Serdang motorcycle.

I normally wear the rain suit over my daily motocycle pants and safety jacket when raining.

Those "arai" ones don't last and it is heavy.

As for motorcycle jackets, for our weather, nothing but full mesh is usable, which by definition, isn't waterproof. Those goreTex ones will be too hot as well..
