I signed up for a trade-in with them, mainly cause Samsung was offering a good rebate for trading in my 3 year old S10e.

Based on my self-diagnostic rating, the device value was deemed to be RM325. However, when the rider came to inspect the phone, he assessed the device value to be RM174.

1) Two micro scratches on the top right of the screen. I'd never noticed these before, but they were there and visible under direct sunlight at a certain angle. Okay fine, agree with them.

2) Device chassis classified as "dented". Their rating is either Flawless, Minor Scratches, Major Scratches or Dented. They classified my phone body as dented, based on some vague explanation that it is because the phone was dropped. But the edge was smooth to the touch. I couldn't accept it is dented. Video below.

3) Device battery classified as "bloated". This seemed like a joke to me. The guy said that the back of my phone was ever so slightly loose, so that means the battery is bloated. Mind you, I never had any overheating issue, and other than normal degradation over time, never an issue with my battery. Video below.

For both 2) and 3), I have the video below. Appreciate if you could let me know their assessment was fair. I decided to go ahead with the trade-in due to additional Samsung rebate. But I just feel kinda unhappy and am tempted to report them to the authorities for unfair/misleading trade-in practices. In my opinion, bloated battery and "dented" device condition are not subjective things, these should be very obvious. So I feel hard done by.

Yes but there is additional rebate of RM400 from Samsung, and an instant rebate of RM200 at the point of order. So total RM200 at point of purchase, and RM574 at point of trade in.

To me it wasn’t obvious, so appreciate your comment clarifying that the assessment for their rider wasn’t off.

Mind explaining how you can proclaim it is so obviously dented and bloated, please?
