There's a 2.5 years old girl. She's almost underweight., Hovering over the yellow line in the pink book. She still wants to breastfeed. She eats a couple mouthful. Then she starts to keep the food inside her mouth. For hours sometimes. Until she falls asleep sometimes.

Her mother, also has a small body, and doesn't eat sometimes as well. Not sure of this is genetic or not. The father is normal chubby bodied. The grandfather on mother side is also small bodied. The other grandparents are normal I guess.

The girl is active, can communicate, can speak some words, and starting to strong words together. She just doesn't wants to eat a lot. Either 3 times a day, or several times a day, she doesn't eat much. Currently on lysine+vitamin C, but it's still not enough weight gain according to doctors.

I'm trying to Google this situation, but I could not figure the keywords for this situation.

I would like to have help with the girl situation.

Then u need to change better doctor or it could be trauma of food. My 7 month old used to hare solid and milk. Doctor say feed them on their demand. Dont use force. Everytime they refuse to eat..ask them are you done and stop forcing. Let them learn how to be hungry again. I follow doctor advise for 2 weeks and he started to eat and drink.

Don't force eat, and let her be hungry naturally? I'll try that. What about the breastfeeding, let it be, or force stop it?

Already weaned. Can eat solid food. Still wants to breastfeed, especially to sleep.

Owhh thats oke. Its just habit to sleep. Eventually she'll stop. But of coz the mom also need to slowly stop it.. Dont encourage by giving her every nap time. Night time oke laa..

Maybe can buy those Heinz puree (veges and fruits).. Kids usually love it.

Since you said the mother side are mostly small bodied, it's very likely that her behaviour is inherited. They have less interest in food, so no need to force her to eat.

Oh no. Please, don't go to see that doctor again!!

Your child might have food texture sensitivity or texture aversion. It happens to some children, and adults too, they can only accept soft or smashed food, for instance.
If she doesn't eat the amount of food that she needs, then certain nutritional needs are not met, so she might have some anemia (that is why she wants to nap often).

If that's is the case, you might want to take your child to see an Occupational Therapist trained on texture aversions (they treat people with any kind of sensory issues, like avoiding wearing certain fabrics or eating certain food that is crunchy or chewy or any other tactile processing disorder ).

I wish you the best, and please, do not see that doctor again.
