I'm a PC gamer most of my life and this is the first time I'm considering getting an Xbox series S.

My gaming PC died recently and I do not feel like replacing it anytime soon due the crazy GPU and DDR5 ram price.
First plan was to buy a PS 5 but I can't buy one anywhere without being scalped so I'm planning to get an Xbox series S to game for the time being (maybe 2 years).

So my questions are:

There's no official Xbox distributor in Msia, so I assume have to rely on the shop for warranty, right? My current location is in KL.

1. Which retail shop would you guys recommend to buy from or do you trust the most? (since pricing is mostly the price is RM 1399 everywhere I looked).
Which shop has more reliable post purchase service?

2. Any difference btw Jpn and Sg version? I would prefer the Sg version.

Is there anything exclusive to Xbox you're planning to try out?

Do keep in mind the games and service subscriptions are quite pricey compared to PS.

Buy SG set from reputable shops like impulse/heavy arms & others, usually the warranty goes back to them then back to SG for repairs/swap. So far there isnt much hardware issue with series console, only 1 forumer here experience that, but because he bought it from random online shop that didn't honor warranty return he found a reputable shop to help on that, with service charge of course.

JPN/SG version just mean it has to go back to its region for warranty, for JPN version most likely there is no warranty, or its gonna take ages for shipping.

I don't really do subscriptions, or I usually don't play a lot of multiplayer games regularly. I think I might subscribe to them when they give out the games I want? IIRC you can keep the game they give out on that particular month? Is that still true?

Currently my main interest is Elden ring, not interested in any other game in particular for now.

Also there I think there's a post recently on There Xbox game pass cming to Msia soon.

Thats PC gamepass not same as xbox gamepass, it may or may not launch in MY for Xbox gamepass, but most of us are hoping it will. Anyway if you are interested in xbox gamepass on how to sub you can check out the sub forum for Xbox. This is a subscription service like rental (Netflix) not same as the old Xbox Gold Live/PSN monthly 2-3 games, your sub ends then you cant launch the game, saves game will be saved on cloud.

Oh ok. Thanks for clarifying. I didn't follow these things closely prior to this so I did not realize the differences.

I tried to contact Microsoft about warranty and stuff. They point me to a Xbox support Msia tech support chat. https://support.xbox.com/en-MY/contact-us
Funny thing is I'd been waiting for hours for the technician to join the chat (I'm no.1 on the queue), but there seems to be no technicians at all attending to the chat support.

I noticed that there's quite a few sellers on Shopee that sells game pass for 120 per year or less. Are those legit?
I'd actually chat with Microsoft Xbox CA and they told me as long as I'm able to activate it should be fine.

What's your view on those resellers?

i dont purchase from shopee game pass seller, maybe others could help verify on that.

there are 2 types of gamepass seller, 1 that requires you to let him login your MS account for activation (avoid this), another they provide you the code for activation. As long as the code could be use for activation it should be legit, my take is they probably bought the cheapest region gamepass code. because of different region code, most of the time you need the subscription to end before you could activate another. if its from the same region then you can stack up to 3 years max.

But do read / research more on the stacking Xbox live gold passes and then converting them to GPU via USD1 method.

I couldn't get it to work due to region mismatch. Tried PayPal and credit card, change address here and there. Still couldn't get it to work. So ended up just bought a single month game pass code from shopee and activated that thus converting my Xbox live 12 months.

And take note that you'd need a VPN for all of that. Cheers
