Hi all,

Looking to buy a new MacBook Pro 14”.
Usage: programming purposes. Frontend and backend with lots of chrome tabs opened.

Should I go with 16gb or 32gb base model?

Go with 32Gb model if you can afford it. My developers always raise an exception case to get a 32Gb machine which I see quite often. Mostly they also deal similarly but they run several VMs and also run docker as well.

32gb, always go for the largest as budget allows.

We went for MacBook Air base model 8 core. However, I suggest getting at least 16gb of ram.

For programming purposes I would suggest going for 32gb, 16 might be enough for you now but you might need the additional in the coming future, furthermore with a power house like these you are for sure going to use it for many years (unless upgrade), so getting 32gb sounds about right..

Yes. Go for 32gb. I am currently having MBP 16 16gb and memory is always used up with only 0.8% free memory available.

You will not regret 32GB.
