I did not know EOL of CentOS Linux 8 until yesterday! No one discuss it on this subforum, I mean this is Linux, and CentOS was a great choice and popular OS for many firms.

How did you survive its EOL? What is the replacement OS you use?

Why you use CentOS? Is it because for compatibility with redhat?

If it is, then just switch to AlmaLinux.

If just want to use Linux, then Ubuntu would be the nice choice to go.

Of coz due to diff distribution, so the some command and function might be diff.

already know since last year.

my production server still on centos 7.

EOL means nothing much. just look out for any serious security issue. unless your server run very important stuff.

Im using Centos 7, when the Centos 8 was launch, i check the EOL is shorter than Centos 7, as today i still deploy my production server using Centos 7.

CentOS 8 - December 31, 2021.
CentOS 7 - June 30, 2024.

No matter what os you used,
You might need to prepare for upgrade / replacement for someday.

For important services,
you might need to prepare new device with new version os / software before EOL and hardware warranty expired.

I work in a HPC shop, we are a CentOS shop. We were on CentOS 5,6,7 and now moved to Rocky Linux 8.
