UOW Malaysia KDU is a Platinum Approved Learning Partner. So what exactly is a Platinum ALP? Well, this is the highest and most prestigious level of approval. Platinum learning partners are required to meet ACCA's global best practice benchmarks and demonstrate student pass rates that exceed global averages for majority of the exams.

Not many people know that UOW Malaysia KDU used to be known as KDU University College, one of the first Private education institutions to be established in Malaysia (1983). However, KDU University College was acquired by the University of Wollongong in 2019. We are now proud to be a part of the University of Wollongong Australia Global Network. KDU was very well-known for its Game Development Programme and we are proud to continue this level of quality education in the area of Game Development. UOW Malaysia KDU is the premier Institute of Higher Learning for Game Development.

This is evident in our student and alumni awards over the past 5 years. Here is just a sample of our most recent student achievement:

I have a question regarding about a program in this uni.So back when 1 month ago i was looking at computer science(degree) in uow malaysia kdu theres 3 specilasation offered for this degree which is cybersecurity, data science and mobile computing.Yesterday i search it again and notice mobile computing was removed,i also told that it has been coverted into thees two specilisation but it is just some of it?cuz theres no screen design, mobile networking and lots didnt appear.I am interested in mobile computing as im aiming to become mobile app developer.finally if it really doesnt teach these stuff anymore, can i still become a mobile software developer if i pursue cs or se degree in this university?.

There is a little history in this. We started the Computer Science program in 2012 and it was called Bachelor of Computing. In 2014, we decided to adhere strictly to the Association of Computing Machinery education nomenclature. We renamed and refocused the program to Bachelor of Computer Science. Back then we did not have any software engineering/development program. The software engineering program started in 2015. Our plan was to phase out the mobile computing specialization from the Computer Science program as mobile computing would be focused under the scope of Software Engineering. The reason being that mobile computing is a part of software development. It's just that it is focused on mobiles. While in SE, you study the entire process of development software and applications regardless of the platform. So yeah - SE gives someone who is interested in mobile development a better scope and broader understanding in the lifecycle of development which includes analysis, design, testing and implementation (SDLC).

Also, our second reason is the alignment with UOW Australia. UOW Australia's main area of focus and strength is in Data Science and especially on Computer Security. In a way, we wanted to focus our entire resources within the Computer Science spectrum on those two key areas which is the two main areas of growth in Malaysia.

The reason why we align is because there is a seamless flow between us and Australia in terms of modules. You can study here and transfer to Australia to focus on their Data Science and Computer Security. Similarly, you can study software engineering and flow into Australia's SE program.

In fact, now - you can also get BOTH Australia and Malaysian degrees at the same time. Why do we do that. That is because in Malaysia - all 3-year degrees are honors programs while in Australia - a 3-year degree is non-honors. You need an additional year for that. This has nothing to do with quality rather the research component that grants it the honors level (in theory - but some Malaysian private unis may not follow this requirement)

I hope I answered your question.

In short. in 2019, we were bought over by University of Wollongong Australia. We follow ACM and Australian Standards. We also follow UOW Australia study plans, specializations and nomenclatures.

Do you know any bright, talented and promising Bumiputera students who did well in their SPM and wants to pursue an accountancy qualification but perhaps have some financial difficulties? ACCA and a local Foundation (Yayasan) are collaborating to provide full scholarships (with allowances and accommodation) to SPM school leavers for the upcoming August 2022 intake.

It is open to students ages 19 years and below; with at least a minimum of 5As (must include As in Mathematics and English) in SPM or equivalent.

This is a 100% scholarship (including exam fees and all) + allowances + accommodation!

What do you think about KDU’s culinary programs? I’m considering Culinary Arts at KDU.

I’ve heard from a few people now that the staffs at KDU are rude. That would be unacceptable at a university setting.

Other than that the facilities look amazing.

KDU or University of Wollongong (UOW) as now it is known as after UOW Australia acquired KDU - is quite famous in culinary arts. In fact, it is one of the pioneers in this area.

Hmm... staff being rude? Are you referring to academic staff or the administrative staff? In the kitchen environment, the teaching staff being from the industry may get a bit terse and direct which is I think is needed especially when dealing with fire, hot stuff and sharp objects. I am not entirely certain in the case of administrative staff. Unfortunately, in every institution there are some circumstance where the staff could be rude. In UOW Malaysia's case, it is usually a rare occasion and this is frown upon at management level. We pride ourselves at being courteous, accommodating and polite to students.
