Hello all,

I am currently studying Quantity Surveying at university.
I want to buy a new laptop since my current laptop is old and not capable of the software.
From what my lecturer told me, I will be using some software such as Autodesk Revit and Glodon Cubicost, and a little AutoCAD.

My budget is below RM6000.
Must not be laggy while running the software.
The battery must have a long life.
The fan must not be very loud.
Webcam required.

Thanks in advance.

You need at least a 12-16gb of GPU memory to work on your designs without feeling much lag. Also an i9 and 32gb of ram.

This put the price point to well over above 10k.

For 6k, you will have to live with your limitations stated.

If you gonna study for long term, try save up another 10k and get a proper one short.

Get HP ZBook series with :-

- Core i5/i7
- 16GB RAM
- 256GB/512GB NVMe
- nVidia T300/T500 GPU

I've bought 2 units last year for company's Architect & uses heavily on AutoCAD, 3Ds Max, Photoshop, Illustrator & Sketch Up Pro... no complaints from them. biggrin.gif

hi junior, I m ur senior, i would say my 7 years old RM1500 laptop can run autodesk well. it down to the budget of ur laptop, with RM6k budget u can get a decent one already.
and just forget the glodon and autocad, both of them required licenses and damn expansive as hell. we wont using both of them on our working life except some consultant.

QS related CADs software usually are more GPU dependent.

imo i would recommend you to get a laptop with decent gpu like RTX3050 or above. (provided the software you use compatible with ampere gpus)

My personal picks for budget AutoCADs are either Acer Aspire or Lenovo IdeaPad L340. Acer bit cheaper.

Have you considered acer nitro 5? I think it will be a pretty good laptop model for you, fits your budget too. Cheers!
