Building my home PC and need a Win 11 home OS. Where can I get a reasonably priced Win 11 home OS? Price?

What is Win 10 home price now? Maybe better to get Win 10 home and upgrade to Win 11 home 5 years later when MS stops supporting Win 10?

P/S Plan now is to use Win home and upgrade to Win Pro if and when the need arises. Will the upgrade cost be too much to make this a worthwhile option?

2 PCs laptops i have not used. The problem is I do not have the OS license numbers etc.

After it finish download, extract the content to desktop or another drive.
Select setup.exe and follow the guide.

My challenge now is to find the win key. I have formated the old OS HD for use in new PC and thus cannot start up using that Win OS. Hope to find the sticker etc.

yes criteria must have a win10 license key i think

if pc already come with windows, you cannot find that sticker
start windows 8 pc come with windows no more sticker on pc case

They have this digital license tied to your Microsoft email account.
Once you logged in with MS account, it will automatically be activated.

Someone more knowledgeable should be able to explain better than me.

I will try the MS email ac to explore. Do they keep track of all the licenses if I used the same MS email for my different Win?

I am not sure, I got two digital licenses, but since I am only using one copy of Windows, I cannot confirm whether the other license is still working. (For example, I got my Windows 10 Home digital license from Windows 7 Home Premium)

Also some license come with laptop is OEM license which is tied to the hardware namely motherboard so u can't transfer elsewhere and use them

Oh yes, now I remember, they even keep track of the components inside the Pc/laptop to catch those using one OS on many PC. Heard one youtuber whose job is to test different hardwares, his OS license was canceled later.

Are you installing new windows? If installing new windows just go and download bootable windows 10 and select win10pro. then go and buy the key on shopee for less than rm10. there you go. been using that with a few of my PCs. No issues at all.

Your Win 7 key is from your old laptop right, in this case not possible as that key is OEM and it belongs to that specific laptop motherboard.

Yes, it's possible. You'll know when you try it. I used the Win 7 Pro OA (OEM) key from a Lenovo M73 and applied to a fresh Win 11 install on my recently upgraded PC.

Mine is just Win 7 home. Hope it will work too.

Yes, I installed Win 11 on the new PC. Skipped entering a product key.
After installation, in Activation Settings, it would say Windows can't be activated because there'e no product key.
Then I entered the above mentioned Win 7 Pro OA key and activated successfully.

Win 7 Home also can.

Confirm Win 11 can be installed with Win 7, 8 or 10 product key. Either OEM, retail or those shopee keys.... 😁

But after activation you will see the difference in the activation page.

The real problem with Windows 11 as i found out from its beginning till now, if you use old hardware is, you are required to update to the latest BIOS. Then find the very latest drivers for all your hardware. Else you will get wired problems like jittery screens even when browsing web.

Heard there are some issues with Win 11 and the MB I will be using. So better for me to stick with Win 10 and upgrade later to Win 11 later.

First hurdle is getting win 11 installed on hardware that has no tpm.

Then working out how to turn off all those stupid data harvesting switches that are relocated or changed from win 10.

It should all be smooth sailing until you hit driver related problems like jittery video, unstable wifi or problems with sound. Probably unknown hardware in device manager which is not a serious problem.

After weeks of waiting for the parts t arrive and learning, managed to finally press the start button on my first build. The 1st image on the screen was not what I expected from videos I have seen. Luckily, bios stage went through OK and then Win 10 installation. Many thanks to MS for allowing me to use my old Win 7 key to get a new Win 10! Now lots of software things to sort out.

Microsoft no longer shipping out on Windows 10 license. You can purchase Windows 11 Home and downgrade to Windows 10. Windows OS license now can integrate with your Microsoft Account. After reformat your computer, login to your Microsoft Account and it will auto retrieve the license for you no matter you installing Windows 10 or Windows 11.

Yes, Microsoft allow license owner to upgrade their Windows 7 to Windows 10. When Windows 10 was announced, Microsoft already offering free upgrade to Windows 10 for existing purchase of Windows 7 (term and conditions applied). Same goes to Windows 11 and future Windows version.

I have bought a few. No issues. One of them is digital license, follow my MS account. I have built new PC recently and just use back this account and the Windows is activated automatically. Don't key in product key during installation.

Never try never know, once you try then you know. Only RM5. Save you a lot compare to a few hundred ringgit license key which bought from retail store.

Just Windows license is fine. Not the MSOffice license. If MS Offfice 365 license , yes. You put data there at your own risk.

Instead of buying one, suggest checking your old laptop or PC for the window code. Use that to get a new Win 10. Then upgrade to Win 11 for free. I did it that way.
