Hi everyone,

I am planning to hold my ROM in the coming months. Both my fiance and I are from two different states (I'm from Sarawak) and we will be doing our ROM at association/temple to "bypass" the limitations of different states for bride & groom.

Ytd i went to JPN and they informed me I need to have an appointment date & letter from association/temple first then only proceed to JPN for the verification and key in our details.

Can anyone confirm this one? I have yet to pick a specific association/temple yet to do my ROM - so have not called their side yet.

Thanks in advance!

U can just let the temple handle the registration its cheaper than paying for gomen ppl to register for u at temple.
U just need to inform jpn ppl.

I think easiest temple will be the one near midvalley

Register = registrar
I that is the "letter" u mean

U still need to go JPN to "announce" your wedding and fill up the required forms.

Yes you’ll need a date from the temple.

Dont overlook the 21 days requirement to display the marriage application at JPN.

Also you need to block a date also with the temple and inform JPN.

My SIL filled the form, have a date, then on the day the registrar attended at the temple.

Do take note some Temples are authorized to sign off on the marriage certificate. (some are not), check with your local JPN.

thanks for the feedback. so is the sequence like this?

1. fill in form, sumpah, verify and submit to jpn (give code for association/temple)
2. book date at temple and get letter.
3. return back to inform jpn on the date & to show letter and display for 21 days?

Actually call them up first to see which temple is authorized.

Easier for you to plan that way.

--> Go to JPN to collect the marriage application form and check carefully what is required.

--> Go to your temple to book your date. Make sure it's more than 21 days + 1 day.

--> Go to JPN and apply for 21 days + 1 day notice for marriage application. Inform JPN of the marriage registration you booked with the temple. Pay RM10 to JPN

--> Wait for 21 days + 1 day.

---> After 21 days + 1 day, go back to JPN to collect the notice. Then bring the notice back to temple.

Ask if your temple can arrange all of this for you, then it will be more convenient for you.

Thought I'd carry on the questions here since the title relates

1) I know jeans are not allowed but can I wear sneakers to JPN Putrajaya ? By sneakers, I mean a nice white clean tennis shoe like Common Projects Achilles

2) My immediate family are all overseas. Can a friend witness/sign on behalf ?

1. as long as its a coverall shoes, it should be fine for form submission. on the actual ROM, its better to be formal.

2. yes, friends/relatives can sign.

How does the timing slot works ? We only booked on the day itself.

Do you suggest to arrive early like 9am in the morning then take number ?

do you mean submitting the documents at JPN for verification etc.? I just walked in, take number and wait for my turn. It's quite fast for me
